Hey everyone,
For those that don't know who I am, at the start of 2008 I had a New Years Resolution to lose weight; I actively logged this journey on this forum in my diary, weigh yourself everyday club and in the pictures forum. I thought of many different approaches, but ultimately I've decided to return to the forum that helped me in the first place.
Now I'm about 67-68kg (was 96kg) and very proud of my achievements, however I still have somewhat flabby areas (excess body fat), i.e. when I sit down I still get a bit of love handles or man boobs. At the end of 2008 I started attending the local gym (for free) whilst I was away from University, and build up some muscles in my arms and shoulders. Unfortunately, I didn't utilise the barbells and didn't do much toning on my chest and belly; rather, I used the weight machines which only give you limited growth.
I've been putting this off more or less since June: I recall messaging Steve and he gave me a pretty thorough work out, but I guess I want to be refreshed with new advice and whatnot.
What work out plan do you recommend to tone this up? The Beginners 5x5? I was always willing to try it, but it looked somewhat difficult and new and I was a bit fearful and anxious of attempting so. I'm also getting back into regular jogs, but this time I'm trying to push my body; never stopping and perhaps even HIIT. I read somewhere that going flat out in cardio pushes your body and utilises the muscles, which obviously is lacking on my body. And indeed, I felt some pain in the muscles which undoubtedly must be a good thing?
But yeah, any help would be highly appreciated. Picture to help.
