Toning abs and stomach

Hi guys,

Basically I'm in pretty good shape, weigh about 72 kilos and 5'6'' height.

The only problem I ever have is th fact that it's really easy for me to put on weight around my belly. I have good upper abs and the rest of me is in good shape, however my lower abs are always in need of attention. Basically there is a bit of fat and only a little muscle in that area.

My aim is to gain a washboard stomach and good "dick lines" (if you know what I mean!).

One of my biggest problems metabolism-wise is the fact it's really easy for me to put on or lose weight. When I go on a surf hol, when I come back my body is awesome, due to the amount of excercise and the little food I ate.

Although my current work (I work on a building site where I have to do loads of heavy lifting) has provided me with a suprising amount of muscle bulk, my ultimate goal is not to be ripped (as I am quite short and want to stay in proportion), but to be very toned with excellent muscle definition and a little bulk.

I heard that HIIT is a good idea for weight loss etc, and I am interested in this but is this possible in a gym environment?

Sorry if this post has been a it long or has been put in the wrong forum or whatever, if you have any questions/suggestions on what I can do to remedy this situation I would be glad to listen!

I will also try and post up a couple of current pics in a day or two so you know where I am coming from!

Thanks alot!

yeh. the whole idea is

losing the body fat. lol , go get your bf % , get down to 10% > to see definition =] but of course, sometimes its based on genetics whether or not u will see the 6 pack / 8 pack. though everyone has it.

HIIT is indeed done in the gym. itis cardio training @ a higher intensity.
you run/sprint in intervals, then take 45 - 1 minute walk/slow

90-100% heart rate for 45 seconds - runn/sprint
50-70% heart rate up to a minute, repeat - walk/jog

most people do this for up to 10 minutes.

2-3 x a week of HIIT is all the cardio you need. If you want more information about HIIT, use the SEARCH option above :]

Could this be a symptom of too much food sticking around?

If so, you might consider that in addition to working abs, you would do well to focus on getting lots of fiber and plenty of water. This is equally important to the workout its self, especially with a high meat intake.

Not knowing your past or current lifestyle, I would be assuming this to be an issue based on what you have said.

Pardon me, but would you mind terribly explaining to me what the heck a "dick line" is? Thank you.

:)

He means inguinial ligaments, the V formed where the legs meet the abdomin. Also called p.e.n.i.s lines, because it's supposed to direct attention downward toward the...you guessed it, p.e.n.i.s.

Vegetables are also very important because they add alkaline to the body and help bring the pH back in line from all the acids of protein.
