Ok, here is what I am planning to eat today:

B: 2 slices of whole wheat toast with pb, glass of milk
S: apple
L: salad with sm amt of dressing, glass of milk
S: apple with handful of wheat crackers
D: not sure...any thoughts?

What do you think of my plan?? Too much?? Too little?? I'm so frustrated, I'm almost afraid to eat for fear that I'll eat the wrong thing....

Sorry: here are my stats:

Age: 31
Weight: 130
Height: 5'3

Protein, huh??? Okay. Back to the drawing board. Oh, I didn't have any pb, so I used jelly instead. And I just ate some blueberries and strawberries and (I cringe) whipped cream. Oh, and I didnt' have milk.

As Lynn suggests, you need to add some lean protein sources to your diet. Natural PB is good, yes, however its more used for a fat source.

Hi Wendy,:)

I hope you don't mind but I was reading your planned food for the day and I'm very new to this but saw that your diet was lacking in the protein area.

I don't know about you but I always find it hard to stick to a healthy eating plan when I'm hungry, so since deciding to change my lifestyle I try to plan my week in advance.

Just a couple of things I do which make sure I don't over indulge or eat things that aren't filling or loaded with bad fats.

I eat chicken breast maybe 3 times a week and always make sure I cook too much. I usually cook it on the bbq. Whatever is left over I keep in the fridge for lunch or snacks.

I love fish such as salmon or tuna steaks. Again I marinade this cook it on the bbq and then what ever is left I keep it for the next day and add it to a salad.

I know this isn't protein but I eat Homemade soup. Every weekend I make a huge saucepan of vegetable soup which lasts about 4/5 days. It's then easy to heat up for lunch. This can be made with all sorts of veg: kidney beans, courgettes, carrots, French beans, potato, cauliflower, cabbage, basically whatever you've got in the fridge.

Chilli con carne. Again it can be reheated , make sure to use extra lean mince and it's great for lunch or dinner the following night. Or freeze it and have it to hand when your stuck for quick and easy meals.

I try and cook a bit more for my evening meals and then use the leftovers for the next day.

It stops you having to think about what your going to eat and puts a stop to
you heading for quick and easy processed foods.

Hope it helps:D

What a great idea with the chicken breasts! I hate fish....loath it! HATE the smell of it...the looks, everything. Ick! LOL I will try some of those suggestions! Thanks!

Like Wannabehealthy said, plan in advance. My husband is great at this, and I am trying to get better at it. We cook 5 lbs. of chicken breasts on the grill at the begining of the week, and then the breasts are great for dinner with veggies, or cut up on a salad, or even just by itself as a snack. If you can get in the habit of doing it, it will help greatly.

Wendy,

Try to always get protein and carbs at each meal, even snacks. With that apple add some cottage cheese or sliced turkey, even almonds or PB if you have nothing else. Salads should always have lean protein with them. Do you like eggs? I hard boil eggs all at once and keep them in the fridge when I'm at a loss of what to eat. "Meal" sounds like a big word but it only means that its balanced with carb and protein. It can be as simple as cottage cheese and berries. I know that when I have a snack or that is only carbs (like that apple) it doesnt hold me over at at all and I'm ravenous very very soon after. The protein keeps your blood sugar (insulin) in check so that won't happen.

Are you tracking your cals? I echo everyone else. that seems so low in cals.
Good luck!

So far today, I have had:

2 slices of whole wheat bread with sm amt of jelly, slice of ham
lettuce with chicken, small amt of cheese and dressing, small handful of wheat crackers.
Lots of water.

So far, I have eaten about 650 cals (according to the nutritional info on the items - and yes, I went by their portions).

I plan on having a bag of light popcorn (75 cals for whole bag) later on and perhaps an apple with it. Dinner? Not sure yet. Shopping later, so I may pick something up there.

How am I doing?
