Hey everyone...I have really been struggling with my eating and exercise lately. My dad developed a cold these last couple of days and we go to Bally Total Fitness together, so we havn't been there all week. He is also getting surgery on his arm on Wednesday, so he is going to be down for quite awhile, hopefully my mom can take me to Bally's at least 3 times a week. As for eating, I've really been struggling lately. I have been having the BIGGEST sweet tooth, I'm not even kidding. I splurged for 3 days straight and gained back 4 pounds, I was at 119 the last time I checked I was at 123. That really makes me mad, I know I'm not overweight and I still look good at 123, but man thats 4 pounds in 3 days!! and I STILL have a sweet tooth, so for the last couple of days I have been chewing what I want (chocolate mostly) then spitting it back out again in the toilet. That way I have been having what I want without any of the calories. Now I know this is really really gross and I know that I shouldn't be doing it and the best way to have what I want is just in moderation, but the problem with me is I just have a really hard time doing that with sweets. Once I get started, I can't stop. I really don't know how to stop this vicious cycle and I'd really appreciate any suggestions that anyone has, thanks so much everyone :)

Spitting it back out? Are you vomiting or really spitting the chewed food?

When I get SUPER chocolate cravings, I first try fruit...usually strawberries will do it for me. I've also put a little chocolate syrup on my strawberries...VERY yummy I might add.

Several people, M2M being the first person I noticed doing this, build chocolate into their menu. That way you aren't feeling deprived, you get a little bit each day and then you don't have those monster cravings. I do this now and I don't have those cravings anymore b/c my body knows it's going to get its chocolate "fix."

As far as your exercise, just b/c you can't or may not be able to get to Bally's doesn't mean you can't exercise. You can do things at home until your dad is up to going back again. Walking, sit ups, squats, lunges, all sorts of stuff. FitTV is great, I don't know if its in your cable line up, but there's always a workout show on, or about to come on that you could workout along with in the meantime. Quite a few are actualy quite fun and they are varied so you won't get bored.

I hope this helped some. Best of luck to you.

Hey,

Firstly, congrats on your weight loss and achieving your goal weight!:D

Perhaps you might want to try not having any sugar (except what is found naturally in fruit etc) for awhile and see if that could break the cravings. There are some people who can't have added sugar because it just leads to further cravings for it.

I will worry if I don't say anything about the c&s. It can be classed as eating disorder behaviour, so please be careful. It can give you gastric reflux problems. You also absorb some of the calories through your mouth when you chew. Feel free to tell me to butt out...

I was worried about the possibility of developing an eating disorder too...that's why I asked those questions. Be careful sweetie. *hugs*

Despite a simple and snappy answer by Hairr
"Try not to keep any chocolate in your house, you will not be tempted"

Ditch the chocolate! Or keep VERY little of it! NOONE else had control over what you EAT on the side. (I say this because my DAD cooks my Dinner XD)

The key to weight loss is self control and attitude =)
Not necesisarily all exercise (but yes you gotta!)
I run about a mile everyday, DDR, and surprisingly a new addiction Wii Sports (Boxing) it gets ya moving I tell ya XD

But even if you walk its better than NOT doing anything at all =P

I agree strongly with trying to quit on the sweet stuff. After a few weeks of no sugar, during which I was sorely tempted, I lost the desire for it.

In fact, I was at a party last night and was given a small piece of cake. I couldn't finish it. It was too sweet and overpowering. I don't feel like I've lost anything by not wanting it (other than weight) or changed who I am, I just didn't really want it.

My mom used to do this spitting the food out thing so I have heard of it before. "IF" it can be controlled, it's totally harmless but like the others have said... it could be one step away from a actual problem. My mom has always had a major sweet tooth too. She never has figured out what to do about it.

The experts say that when you crave sweets that you are actually craving fruit. I don't know if it's true or not .....cuz i'm sorry...there is no mistaking a brownie for a apple....lol.

What I would suggest is getting all the chocolate out of the house and buying a whole bunch of fruit. Try replacing the sweets with fruit. It's worth a try.

As for the working out part.... yeah that does suck but there are other things you can do. Definetly try talking to your mom about taking you but if she won't then find things to do around your house. If you don't have weights then use random things in your house as weights. There is even workout shows on t.v. you could watch. My most favorite though is dancing! It's so good for you and it puts ya in such a great mood, too.

LOL thats how I am with soda, I used to drink it like mad (diet) but as I went on I cut off soda to, and let me tell you it defintely is better, and like you said

"After a few weeks of no sugar, the cake was to sweet and overpowering"

the SAME thing with soda, everytime I'd take a sip I'd burp 3 seconds later, (funny though chugged half a bottle and then Belched SOOOO loud LOL, as a joke obviously)

And honestly, I reccommened to buy a bag of chocolates, not to eat in major porportions but everytime the "Sweet" craving comes along, eat one (and ONLY one) and move along, sometimes I have this with the peanut butter cups in my house XD (for some reason my dad bought >.>) everytime Im in the mood for one, I eat one and really don't touch anymore (maybe a total of 2 a day? ) and obviously I'm talking about the little ones you get on halloween/xmas XD

But ONLY if you can control yourself, learn to resist first :)
Its not as hard as you think and you WILL feel better.
