Before I start a little bit about who I am, my history of weight, and why I think this time can work.
My name is Jill, and I'm currently in the first year of my PhD. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer working. I'm studying chronic disease prevention, population health, and environmental health status. Every conference I go to, every presentation I give, I feel like a hypocrite. I am working to understand how individuals can be healthier, and yet, I am not healthy.
I have always battled with my weight, but 6 years ago I was comfortable with my weight, how my body looked, and most importantly, I was happy. At that time I met someone, and for the past 5 years, we were in a relationship. I thought I was happy, but I wasn't. I gained a lot of weight, and experienced a lot of emotional abuse. I was never good enough, I was always wrong, I was always illogical and too emotional, I put myself through school and worked full time to support the two of us, and I let myself become filled with self hate, low confidence, and shame.
I have recently ended this relationship, and have decided that it's time for me to take care of myself. I want to be happy again, I want to love the way I look, I want to have confidence, and enjoy life. A month ago I decided that to become the weight I wanted that I needed a personal trainer. So I signed up for a gym, and have been seeing Jessica 3 times per week.
My work out plan is as followed:
Mon- PT appointment
Tue- Zumba
Wed- PT appointment
Thu- Off day
Fri- PT appointment, zumba
Sat- solo gym
Sun - Off day/ yoga
A month ago I weight 207lbs, with a 40% body fat. Standing at about 5'3, that's bad. I'm at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, CVD..the list goes on.
Today I had a reassessment- I have lost 3lbs of fat and gained a pound in muscle. I'm down to 39%bodyfat. These are fantastic goals...however, I'm still not content with where I am.
Today I am having a hard time battling myself...I should be happy with my goals, and what I have accomplished. I am keeping up with the gym, keeping up with trying to improve my eating, and I am losing weight...but I'm still not happy. I need a good kick in my rear.
I came on here to get comfort from the fact that there are others out there going through the same thing I am going through. Reading your diaries and posts have made me feel wonderful, and have, in just a short period of time, given me hope and brightened my day.
I have never kept a journal, but this will be my first. I want to keep at it!
