Tired of being fat...

I'm so tired of being fat, out of breath, asthmatic, lazy, and all the other characteristics that come with being overweight and/or obese.

After much screen hustling on this website for the past months, I've decided that I, too, will join the thousands on this site ready to make the change in their lives and begin the progression towards a better body image, self-esteem, and all else that comes with it.

My name is maree and I am 25 yrs old in Los Angeles. I used to be very athletic and constantly playing sports, but once I finished college and stopped being so active the pounds immediately packed on. On top of this I also changed birth control pills and when they say a side affect of the pills is weight gain....well they were telling the truth!

Within 3 yrs I packed on nearly 100lbs of fat. Very unhealthy. And so NOW is the day I commit myself to start taking care of myself and focus on my own issues instead of others. (I am a student advisor of sorts)

I will begin my diet regime and stop being so lazy and inactive, TODAY! I am one of those gym members that thought by just having a membership it will start the process. Unfortunately, a gym membership must be utilized for actual weight loss...go figure.

Well, I am ready to see the change in my body. All the stories and especially the photos of peoples' weight loss are much motivation. And I hope by becoming actively in this forum and with the motivation of others I am able to become one of those success stories too.

I will try and post pictures of my progress....eeek! (I haven't taken a picture in 3yrs)

Oh and I forgot...I am 5'10 and weigh 287lbs. My goal is to get down to 150lbs.

mareejane,

Good luck on your battle against the weight. If you don't rush things and take things slowly you will easily get to your target. Loosing that much weight takes time be patient. You will find lots of help here on the forum and motivation too. Eat healthy, Exersize and don't be afraid to have some treats on the way usually one a week.

Good Luck

mareejane,

Good luck with your goals!

And good job for officially stating your goals, that's a big step in the right direction.

I'd personally recommend taking pictures (even if you don't post them here) they're a great way to keep yourself motivated.

And sometimes you'll actually lose a ton of weight and not see it yourself because it happens so slowly. But if you take pictures, then you can compare this month to last month, and even though your didn't see progress in the mirror due to the gradual changes, you can see a difference in the pictures.

That difference you see will really help to keep you motivated.

And it will prevent you from saying "Ahh! This isn't working!" getting frustrated, and quitting.

Like Big-John said, it's about the slow changes, but you want to make sure you're aware of those changes so you stay on track, keep motivated, and have fun doing it.

Good luck, and have fun!

I just started my journey as well, The one thing that has greatly helped me already is to keep a food journal. It has really helped me to get the correct amount of calories I need with the right combination of Protein/carbs/fat.
I just started this week but I can already feel my energy increasing.

I will be posting my Before and After pics one day!

I just recently started to push harder to meet my goals, and just joined a few days ago. And this site is amazing for support, so I do welcome you here and hope you enjoy it like I am.
