Tips?

I'm 5'4" and I weigh 166 pounds and I'd really like to get to 145 so that my BMI no longer says I'm overweight. I've been eating very healthy and keeping a log of everything I eat and all of the exercise I do each day, but I feel like that's not enough. I used to be 185 and I've gotten here, but that was with the assistance of intense workout DVD's that I don't have access to here on campus (I'm a 19 year old college student). I've been keeping to a very healthy diet for about 2 and a half weeks and have definitely seen an improvement in not only my body function, but I ultimately feel better about myself. So if there are any tips anyone would wanna share, I'm pretty open-minded. =)

Why do you feel like that's not enough? :)

You've only been at this for 2ish weeks and you're seeing progress and feeling better about yourself ... so it sounds like you pretty much have a handle on it! :)

I would suggest that you read some of the sticky posts in the various areas of the forum - especially the ones about nutrition and exercise. Those will maybe give you a few tips to ramp things up or make changes that will help long term.

Otherwise - CONGRATS on your success!

You say you want to lose weight so your BMI won't be in the overweight category... is that the only reason? If so, that's not necessary at all. Research points to the fact that many people who have BMI in the overweight category are metabolically healthy. BMI is not a great indicator of health by itself anyway. Find out your body fat % and waist circumference (bf% <28 female, <18 male, waist <32 inch female,<36 inch male for correlation with good health)

Weight loss, however, if you insist on losing, is all about caloric restriction. You have to measure how many calories you're taking in. Exercise is good but will not lead to weight loss. Exercise mostly helps maintain muscle and bone while in a caloric deficit.

Start journaling your food intake if you haven't already.
