Hi Guys&Gals,
I'm 29 years old and have managed to put on 53 pounds over the past 5 years.
It started during a low point in my life where I sort of withdrew from everyone and padded myself up with 53pounds of emotional safety. In hindsight I should definitely have spoken to a professional rather than stuffing my face, but at the time I didn't realize how depressed I was. Gaining weight just seemed to make things a little better at the time.
Time does seem to heal all wounds and I am happy to report that it's finally time to chip away at that 53 pound shell and start catching up on the life that I've been missing out on.
I was a bit of a fitness freak prior to putting on the weight.
For the past couple of months I've been half-heartedly trying to lose it, but I have no accountability right now so it's all too easy to just postpone it a bit longer.
This is where this diary comes in.
I'm hoping that writing it all down will give me the week-to-week accountability that I need, and the push to keep going during tough periods.
I don't think my challenge will be in the eating and exercise part, but rather pushing through busy weeks where I'd *like* to just put the weight loss aside until the busy period blows over.
My Diary will be updated with pictures each week.
While I do find it confronting to look at photos of myself at this weight, being able to see the changes along the way will hopefully help with the incentive to keep going.
I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's current blogs and to offer encouragement along your journey aswell.

Here are some before/after pics of myself. (they're supposed to be the other way around, right?
)
My goal is to get back to the weight I was before things went sour.
Each week I'll be taking body measurements as well as weighing myself.
I find this better than relying just on the number on the scales.
My starting chart is as follows:
