Time to drop 80 pounds (maybe a little less)

Hello all! I just signed up for this forum yesterday and enjoy reading about some of your journeys as you lose weight. I am very inspired and motivated right now and I hope I can keep it up.

Briefly, a little about me: I am a 36 year old stay at home mom married for 10 years to a wonderful man. I currently weigh 180. I've put on about 80 pounds in the last ten years (up and down) and would like to take them off of my 5'1" frame. My goal weight is about 100 pounds, but I might be happy at 110 or maybe more. It depends on how I look in my clothes. Despite the huge weight gain, I tend to have good muscle tone and can still see the remnants the shape I used to have, so I am hopeful. I just want to get as close to that as I can.

I joined a gym on Tuesday and have been an hour each day since then. I have done nothing but cardio so far. I have an appointment tomorrow with a trainer to do an evaluation about my BMI and goals and all that so I will update that as soon as I find out. I will start keeping a more detailed food and exercise journal as well. Generally this week I have eaten very well. I am looking forward to sharing my journey with you as well as following some of yours. Thank you!

OK, it's official. I'm fat! Hehe..kidding. I got my initial evaluation from my trainer today and I'm in pretty bad shape. I guess if I am going to think positive, I could say at least I still have my hour glass figure, though it's extra large now. I also registered as having high blood pressure, which I never had even when I was pregnant. I think that was just from the anxiety I was feeling all week and from having someone check my weight, etc. Here's my stats:

Age: 36
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 181
BMI: 44% body fat
Shoulders: 46 inches
Bust: 44 in.
Waist: 38 in.
Hips: 44 in.
Arms: 14"
Thighs: 25"

So far I've been to gym everyday and done at least an hour of cardio. (Elliptical Machine, Treadmill, & Bike). At home I do at least 50 crunches. On Monday I have my second appointment with the trainer and we'll put together some kind of workout routine. I'm ready to do this y'all! Thanks for listening. :)

Hi all. This has been a busy week and I already feel so much better. For those that are interested, I have a brief background story of how I got to this point. I had somewhat of an emotional meltdown last week after I found some porn links to websites that my husband had been looking at. I was so upset because at an earlier time, I told him I understand that he might want to look at stuff like that, but to please cover his tracks if he did. Out of sight, out of mind for me. Well, he forgot and then I was compelled to look at the links. I got so sad because I noticed that many of the women he was looking at have similar body shape and proportions that I had when we met. It made me feel like I failed as a woman since I let myself get so big after having kids. So..I decided to do something about it. Now, I was really mad, but I decided I was going to focus that energy on doing something about my weight. I want to be happy and healthy for myself and please my husband so I joined a gym. So, in a weird way it's a good thing I saw the links. It was just the kick in the rear that I needed!

Since I joined the gym, I have gone everyday. I got evaluated by a trainer and that's where I got the stats I mentioned in an earlier post. The second appointment with trainer (yesterday) consisted of him showing me how to use some of the machines to work on my upper body. On Friday, he will show me what to do for my lower body. The rest of the days I've gone, I've done at least an hour on the treadmill, elliptical machine, bike, or stair stepper to start burning the fat off. I've been having that good, sore feeling you get when you know you are doing something good for your body!

My diet has been pretty good, but I'd like to talk to a nutritionist to get some pointers. I don't think I've ever eaten really badly, just made some wrong choices here and there and didn't watch my portions. My favorite meal of the day is breakfast. In the recent past, I would make breakfast tacos almost every morning. Always bacon/egg or chorizo/egg or potato/egg on flour tortillas (The combos are endless!). If you've ever been to Texas you know what kind of heaven breakfast tacos are! But since I've started making better choices, I've been eating oatmeal or Quaker Oatmeal Squares with skim milk in the mornings with some fruit. Coffee or green tea to drink. Lots of water! For lunch, I've just been trying to make sure I eat a small amount of protein with some salad or a vegetable. Dinner is the same. I like to make stir frys alot with a meat plus rice or noodles and vegetables. I've been snacking on fruit or maybe some hummus and baked pita chips. I know I need to be better about writing it down in detail in a journal or something, but I haven't done it yet. I just know I already feel better about myself just for making an effort. I wish I had done it long ago. My husband is happy that I'm finally wanting to lose weight!

I am debating on whether or not to post some pictures, but I am nervous about that. I might do some with my face blacked out to show my progress. I know it is inspiring for ME to see others' weight loss photos! We'll see.
