Holy shit Liz! Is that what it takes to do one of these rides? Damn I'm not sure I'm ready yet... for the emotional toll!

Lol actually thats just the cycling gear, doesnt even include the tools in case shit breaks (which were already packed) or my clothes to wear the rest of the other days.

Sheesh. I echo reluctantcabbie's statement :D

I think the only thing you forgot was yourself :D
Hmmm yes must remember to strap myself to the roof racks!

Hey there!

Aww thanks!! i love your heart in the nickname! must be a pain in the butt to login with though lol :D

Actually Liz, it was the panic post I was talking about more than the supplies...
Hahaha, i wasnt thinking, i was panicing! Nothing like a little anxiety to raise the HR an burn more cals.

Made couple of banners for the groups im with. Must take tons of pics :D
Yesterday and today were much better food wise.

Watching this doco atm about that clinic in NY for seriously obese people. It both terrible, and yet i understand. And according to them i have binge eating disorder, and theres no cure but to do what im doing - keeping track of what the triggers are and avoid em. Of course obsessive cycling helps :D:D
Screw disorders and other bullocks. I have better things to do.

I was watching that too.

Very interesting. I tended to agree with that British nurse who said that they were probably eating less than they should be with that diet. Still, if they're able to help people, then that's got to be a good thing, right?

LOL luckily I'm able to just stay signed in! :)
hehe.

I'm going to wish you a happy Thanksgiving.. but I have a sneaking suspicion you don't celebrate Thanksgiving in New Zealand... lol ;)

Have a fab day! :)

Agreed that 1500 cals is to little for them to LIKE it, however not to little to survive considering they are monitored by doctors and nurses at all times, and they seriously do need to loose a lot of weight fast. Thats why they are there. Most are borderline walking death machines.
What they need to do is lock them down so they are forced to eat less, pin coded doors etc, like prison. None of this visitors or ordering food in shit, if they do kick em out.

Thanks giving? Wouldnt even know what day it was :) Hope you had a good one though!

So, the bike race! it was a brilliant and sunny day. Slathered on the sunscreen, wasnt to nervous or anything on the day, i had it all organized. I even got a decent night sleep before it! Stoked!

Jumped into the group in front at last minute to ride with some other team mates, kept up for about 20km lol. The hills are a killer, i would climb really slow, and everyone overtook me, and then on the downhills it was the opposite. I would roll past resting whilst they pedalled to get down.
I stoped for a quick pee break and fill the water bottle, then a brief stop for cramp at the bottom of a hill at the 140km mark. stretched and went on.
Stopped again for loo but had to wait for one to come free (grr at port-a-loos!) so re-slathered sunscreen on. Then one more breif stop for cramp and then i got back. My goal was to do under 6 hours. My computer said i did 5:55 riding time. So goal accomplished.

Looked online at the results today and the official time is 6:28 which somehow means they screwed up something, or i managed to accidently loose time somewhere. There was no way 3 quick stops and 1 longer one were 35 mins. Anyway, im going by riding time still, and 5:55 is faster than last years 6:50ish or whatever it was riding time by an hour. And official time last year was something like 8:30 so i knocked 2 hours off that!
And at anytime you can do 6 hours cycling is super cool :)
So, Super Gadget GPS computer on bike said i used 5500 calories i think, but i think it overestimates it and i figure 600 cals per hour is better bet, so 3600ish is more likely.

Everyone else had mega super cramps, i do wonder if it was the heat or not. I breifly had 2 episodes at which point i stopped, stretched, ate and drank them away and was able to continue.

Whilst on the bike i had :
17 shots of leppin gels (1700 cals total), about 1 per 10km plus 2 extra when i cramped.
5 litrs of water whilst riding (just over 1 gallon?) plus more when i got home.
3 or 4 muesli bars.
4 No-Doze (caffiene pills)
2 Nurofen (pain killers for sore neck)

I felt fresh though tired afterwards, slept well, feeling great but a little sore today. No exercise hangover etc. Good prep and suppliments/diet did it.
Was surprised and how many others had cramps and DNF (did not finish) including a guy who usually kicks my butt, and regularly does at least 150kms a week.
Unfortunatly 2 coatings of sunscreen still missed a few spots, and my shorts rode up a little. So little bit burnt in a few places :)

ouch! sounds like a bad place to get burned! Hope it goes away soon! I'm really impressed w/ your numbers Liz!! Your one dedicated chick!

and on that note, ive decided to more actively get back into weight loss. Some particularly bad cycling shots have made me decide to do so.

edited sig as it was like 3 months outta date lol. Okay i want to get down to 143 - thats 65kg.
Im gonna go into the gym now and book an appt for the full works going over weights and everything.
Diet is on track, the only thing slowing me down here is the extra 30lb i have on me now. Getting up those hills on a bike in that race really showed me that much! The skinny minnies were the ones that climbed like mountain goats, whilst i grinded away slowly up hill.

Another fantastic job by an amazing and inspiring person.

You've got me stoked now, can't wait till I try a ride like that. Gonna do my damndest to get on in this spring/summer season.

Wow the "good" photo is awesome! The "Bad" photo is in your head. ;) I don't even see belly skin. I see skinny arms!! You look awesome:)

Awww you look gorgeous and so happy in both hon!

Hey i've been meaning to ask ya'...Whenever I'm on the recumbent bike (I know, lame) or any bike for that matter I get a bubble in my left knee. I thought it was because I was at an incorrect distance away from the pedals, but no amount of adjusting the seat gets rid of it. It doesn't really hurt, it's just annoying, and doesn't go away when I extend fully.

Got any tips? :)
