As I'm loosing weight, I keep noticing new things about my body that are new/different from before. I thought we could make a list of new things for each of us & add to it as they happen..., I'll start.

1. When I'm taking a shower, I look down & I can see my feet without bending or breathing in.
2. I can go in a shop with confidence that I'm gonna find something that fits me, a great feeling, and so many more clothes options! :D
3. I can stand on my head and wave my legs in the air! :p
4. I feel physically crappy if I eat a lot of junk food (as opposed to guilty).
5. When I'm getting changed sometimes I can see my ribs in the mirror
6. Sorry if this is too much information, the other day I was lying on my back and my gf ran her hand across my chest, she came accross a lump, she says to me, what's that? It's my ribs :D
7. I can when I'm out of the shower, I can wrap my towel around myself & wear it like a skirt :)
8. Loads more people check me out, always great for a confidence boost :p
9. Goodbye double chin ;)
10. Hello collar bones
11. I don't get breathless so easily.
12. I can eat in public without feeling people are judging my choices.
13. I'm happy to have my photo taken.
14. When nobody's home I walk around the house naked ;)
15. When I get in an aeroplane I don't usually have to loosen the strap before doing it up. :D
16. I'm not obese anymore.

Post all your new successes & discoveries here no matter how big or small as & when they happen, it's been really fun remembering all those things to make that list & I'd love to hear yours.....,

another one i would like to add to my list though is being able to wear a bikini top in summer when im out with my friends and not feel like i have to keep my towel around me or cross my arms.

1. I can see and feel my hip bones!
2. I can wear shorts (mid-length) without feeling self-conscious.

That is a great step.

You have raised an important issue here. Be confindent in yourself. Because I'm not.

I've lost 35lbs in 8 months and wouldn't be able to go for instance to the beach like I used to!!! And I am a man not a woman.

17. I can comfortable sit like a proper lady with crossed legs.

...., Come on people... make a list! It's amazing to realise how much of a difference a few pounds makes, share it with us!

This thread is about what you can do, not what you can't! Thirty five pounds is a fantastic loss so congratulations on that! Don't sell yourself short! ;)

1. I have to buy new clothes now!
2. I can hike a few miles without being wiped out!
3. My back doesn't hurt anymore!

6. Goodbye double chin! (Quoted For Emphasis)
7. I enjoy how exercise feels!

2. I dont huff and puff going up the stairs to my apartment anymore
(In China if the building is less than 8 floors, NO ELEVATORS!!!)

3. I do my exercises outside in public! That's confidence I am loving!

4. I can NOT hear people exclaim 'Waaaah! How Fat!!!" in Chinese anymore!

5. I can not only see the benefits of exercising, but I honestly enjoy it!

6. I can take my shirt off at the beach and I dont care who is looking!

7. I can eat MORE meals than I used to and still lose weight!!

8. I can do more and have more energy than my skinny friends!

9. I finally learned how to reward myself!

10. I can start leading the life I dreamed of as a teenager...

Whats better than that??

On that note... Again....

Just thought I would share something that made me feel more positive than ever before. Happened a few weeks ago.

As I mentioned before, I live in China and I am a big guy to begin with. I was always get people saying "Waaah!" as I walked by (Chinese equivelant of "Holy Crap!" After that I would here them saying "How fat!" or "What do you figure he weighs?" or "Too Fat!!!" When I didn't speak Chinese I still sorta knew what was going on.

Well, now I do speak Chinese and I do understand what they are saying, which makes it just that much worse... Until recently.

People don't say "How Fat!" anymore.... Now its "Waah!!! Thats a big strong dude!" or "Watch out for that guy!" or "Waah!! How handsome!!"

What a difference that makes!!!

But the best compliment of all came a little while ago. I was walking down the street and 2 young ladies were outside handing out flyers for some fad/gimmick weight loss device or other and one of the ladies saw me walking up. Of course, being a foreigner I would definitely need to lose weight right? Well, she came bouncing over and then stopped, walked back over to her friend and told her in Chinese, "Rats, he isn't a fat person..."

She was dissapointed because she lost a sale, but, understanding what she said, I was ready to start skipping down the street!! When skinny little Chinese people no longer consider me fat it means I am DEFINITELY doing something right!!!

WooHoo!!

How that for positivity?

wow some great things in this thread..

Heres some stuff i love/notice

I love being smaller than my friends and giving them my old fat clothes
I love the attention and second looks i get from people who havnt seen me in a while
Towels fit ALL the way around me now and then some
I can fit through turn stiles
I can fit in the bath and have the water covering ALL of me
I can hug my husband and step on his toes without my belly in the way
I can fit in my van easier
i can walk run or anything better!!
I can buy clothes off the rack again! horay!
I'm bringing sexy back!

There are more - ill add them as i think of them

Ok I still have a long way to go, but in the stone that I have lost so far there are a few differences... :)

1. I HAVE COLLARBONES. Especially under the right lighting lol. :D
2. No more "love handles", my hips are now just... hip shaped :p .
3. Less back ache than before.
4. I fit into a size 12 dress and look an nice shape in it!
5. I'm a lot more fit and energetic, which I notice all the time.

I was heading homeo n the train last night and the seat next to me was vacant -and my fat ass wasn't taking over a portion of it - and my free seat was one of the first to go at the next stop.

giving away all my clothes that are too big for me - in fact i'm starting a new pile of stuff i just bought at the beginning of winter that's now too big.

passing on the elevator in my apartment building and automatically going for the stairs and not needing oxygen half way up.

actually wanting to exercise.. .(bitching last night that i worked late so i couldn't get to the gym -and wen someone pointed ouot that i walked 1 mile home from the train (it's actually 3/4s of a mile) i said witha straight face that it didn't count :) and meant it too.

being able to use arm rests on chairs.

being almost able to fit into my first non plus size article of clothing ( a really pretty michael kors skirt i bought in an size XL - yeah that is still plus size but it wasn't from the ugly polyester rack in the back of th store)

Signing up for the breast cancer 3 day walk and being more worried about the fund raising aspect than of the actual walk itself - 60 miles - no sweat :)

Sirant, I get a real kick out of your posts! Tried to give you rep, but couldn't. They're always very inspiring, though!

yes sirant, i really enjoyed reading yours as well! what a great story... you must have felt like a million bucks after that!

i am loving reading everyone's responses! isn't success a great feeling?!

i love that i had to buy new clothes (with a legitimate excuse! :) )

i am in much better shape

and i feel 100 times better about myself!

isn't success a great feeling?!
i really wish i could say i felt successful - i'm no where close to that yet - -but i'll take the tiny stupid insignificant to everyone else victories where i can...

I dont think your successes are insignificant! Anyways, if it matters to you thats the main thing. Thats what I think any way.

My successes are:
Being almost back to the weight I was at the begining of college (like, 4 years ago)
Being able to fit back into clothes that almost made me cry last time I tried them on
Being able to pulled what used to be my best fitting jeans a good 2/3 inches away from my body.

Hmm sure il think of some more!

You don't feel successful??

i really wish i could say i felt successful - i'm no where close to that yet - -but i'll take the tiny stupid insignificant to everyone else victories where i can...

Mayb I am reading the numbers wrong, but based on what I am seeing you are much more than successful my dear! You are amazing! Just because you arent there yet, doesnt mean you havent been a success. You just still have a ways to go before you are finished!! I have seen so many of your posts and your encouragements to others, you have tons of great advice and I am sure I will not be the only one here to say it, but you inspire me everyday! 135 pounds gone??? Unless you did that by lopping a couple limbs off (which I really hope you didnt by the way...) thats is a WHOPPING BIG success in my books!

I try to look at the end game. The fact you are here, the fact you have already made sooo much progress and the fact you are so humble about it and most of all, the fact you are willing to share your struggle and help me and others with ours put you right up there in the saint category, like so many others here in this group.

In my eyes you were a success when you took your first step, now you are an inspiration!

Thanks maleficent!

sirant

very well started, sirant.

you have been successful, mal!

i am no where near done, but when i said successful, i was more meaning the small victories we have achieved... and you have achieved lots of them!!

As I'm loosing weight, I keep noticing new things about my body that are new/different from before. I thought we could make a list of new things for each of us & add to it as they happen...
  • Goodbye double chin.
  • Goodbye bad skin.
  • Goodbye indigestion / heartburn.
  • Hello bone and muscle structure.
  • Hello camera lens :)
  • I can now run - for miles.
  • I enjoy cycling all over the place with the mutt (for example ).
  • I enjoy weight lifting - I feel that I belong in a gym.
  • Hello self-confidence - who had the best work interview recently?
  • Learning to dress differently - goodbye baggy clothes. When I do walk into that pub, I hang up my jacket and feel confident.
  • The biggest physical changes that I notice in recent months are not just to do with weight loss, but also with exercise and good nutrition. These include
    • My back - it has a shape! It feels great.
    • My legs - first I started running, now its squats and deadlifts each week, they feel so great, and their shape keeps changing.
    • My bum (butt) - ditto...

As I said above, with me its not just about weight loss - that was just the start. Now I know that I can control the shape of my body, and I can always aim for new goals. Its about enhanced fitness - for someone who had never previously experienced it.

i really wish i could say i felt successful - i'm no where close to that yet - -but i'll take the tiny stupid insignificant to everyone else victories where i can...

Stop being so depressive and all but begging people to say nice things or ill slap you :)
