Those last 40. =D

So I decided to make a new diary, because I don't really post in my old one, and I am in a much better mood in this one anyways! I plan on writing everything I eat/do down, so please yell at me if I don't ( because most likely, I didn't do anything- and ate everything :p ). I have about 40 more pounds to loose. I am not so worried about the number though, but I really want this arm /thigh stuff to go away. It's the most annoying, my tummy isn't flat of course, but its not nearly as big as my arms and thighs. :)

For those of you who have never chatted, or read my other diary I guess I can tell you a little or alot about me, I am 18 and I live in Alabama, My real name is Nikki. Aleeluh is a user name I had from gaming, so I used it here too. I am having breast reduction surgery soon, soon as in I am waiting on my insurance's approval, then I schedule a date. I am defiantly having it before January, because thats when I start college. My family wants me to go into the medical field- which I have a "scholarship" to do a sonography program. Although, I don't want to, I probably will. The things I want to study in college would never make money. :p So I will probably go back to college when I am done with that program. Oh another thing, the only reason I got the scholarship is because my cousin is an instructor at the community college here. so lol.. I was a high school drop out , I got my GED recently. Something I am not proud of, but when I started my weight loss journey and started making progress ( about the time I joined this forum, April 2007) It inspired me to do more with my life. Before I started loosing weight, I was content with doing nothing with my life. Now that I am over that stage , ALOT has changed. I am trying to do the best with what I have.

I usually update my ticker below religiously, but I honestly haven't weighed myself to often lately, because I am avoiding the scale, until I get back into a healthy routine, because my insomnia ( which I have frequently, has been affecting my exercise, as usual. )

Anyways, let me update todays food, and activity so far. Since I plan on staying up all night and all day tomorrow, to get back on a "normal" schedule. since I woke up late (6pm, yes I am awesome .)

Todays food so far-

Hamburger on wheat bread, with peas and corn
a little piece of bread just to try:p
some fish, just a little kind of tested it .
and.. a big chocolate brownie, I couldn't resist, needed some treat, I have been avoiding sweets but today it got me, oh well!
thats all so far, I will update as the day goes on.
watermelon, carrots

My activity so far has just been lifting some hand weights and doing some exercises with my arms, I plan on doing alot more today. Soon as it gets day light, I am attempting the Couch to 5k, although I hate running because of my boobies :p but I want to be able too.

I wanted to add, my mom was sweet and bought me a few shirts and two pair of jeans. Well she got a size 15/ and a size 13 in jeans for me to try. The size 13 fits way better than the 15, but the 13's aren't short and the 15's are:( I have to get these 13's hemmed. lol I am so short! but I was excited I fit a size 13 jean!

Thanks for starting a new diary! I'm a new member on here and probably wouldn't have been able to find your old one. Congrats on the progress so far! As far as the school thing, when you're in college, try several classes that you may not have normally to see if there's something out there that you will be passionate about (plus, they'll probably fit into your GE classes anyway). What I'm studying now (Human Development and Sociology) were 2 things I would have never considered until I saw how Human Dev encompassed all the things I love: Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology... Definitely try new classes while you're young and you never know what may make you the happiest and could earn you the most money later in life. :)

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for the response. Also welcome to the forum!

It's funny, the things you mentioned are the exact things I want to study. :) Whenever you have time I would love to hear more about them. I plan on trying classes, but everyone is just pushing me into this medical field stuff ( I think because its a 2 year course, and its paid for)

Definitely see if the medical field is the right one for you (especially since you have the scholarship). But feel free to pick my brain about Human Development! It's hard to say in a nutshell about HDev since it has so many focuses and career opportunities. To get a BA in HDev, it will take some time and will most likely take 4 years to achieve. 2 years undergrad/GE courses, 2 years focused on the major (120 units overall - at least at my school, Cal State Long Beach). With HDev you can have an overall area of study or focus on one aspect like sociology (like I'm doing with also having a minor), or psychology, biology, anthro, etc, etc, etc....

Here's the degree requirements at my school for a major in HDev:

You can click around on that page and get a better idea of the major. I personally am considering going into counseling or doing research when I finish. It's a really interesting area of study with so much potential. :)

thanks for the info :) I always wanted to study something along those lines. but like you said I will just take a bunch of classes :p See where to go from there. It's just so frustrating , every time I go somewhere my family tells everyone I am going to be a nurse, or something like that. I have told them a million times that I am not sure I want that. It's frustrating:) but thanks so much for the reply!

The things I want to study in college would never make money.
The rest of your life is a very long time... and you're going to be working a majority of that time - Do what you love to do and the money will follow...

it's said often that the average person has at least 2- 3 different careers in their lifetime... what you major in in college doesnt' have to be the rest of your life...

Listen to your heart and not outside sources..

I actually think that in today's depressed economy you should pursue both the vocation you love AND a career that will keep you financially secure and will allow you to find a job quickly and easily after college.

Most of my fellow English graduates this year have yet to find a job...and the same goes for a lot of other majors too...so keep that in mind if you end up picking something in which the job market is very competitive or which limits you. Any major which causes people to ask, "So what are you going to do with that?" is an iffy choice nowadays as far as I'm concerned.

If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't have majored in English. I'm so lucky to have gotten the job that I have...

Alabama representin' in the house, whoop whoop!

Where are you going to school? I just graduated from UAH. :D

Psych major here. I decided spring of my senior year that I didn't have the stomach for grad school. You know what you can do with a BA in psych? The same thing you can do with a HS diploma, except that you're "overqualified" and have no work experience!

My recommendation to my own kid (who is only 5, and already doesn't take my advice, so feel free to likewise ignore it!) would be to major in something practical. Not something you hate, but something that will put food on the table. But to also take a wide variety of classes, and if there's something you really love, either double-major or at least take as many classes as you want in that area you love.

I'm with Ally. It's a "food on the table" era nowadays, at least in the US...

If I had it to do over again, I probably would have worked harder and gone to law school.

I am glad to see your new diary. I hope your insomnia eases up so you can get back to a regular schedule. I know how sleep deprivation can de-rail a perfectly functioning schedule.

As for school, I was do almost anything to go back and make some decisions differently. I want to be a doctor...so, so badly. I kick myself on a weekly basis for the fact that I would be a full physician right now if I had started on the journey right out of high school like I should have. Instead, I just now finished my associate's degree in healthcare administration. (I am gonna work in a healthcare even if I can not be a doc). Now, I have three young daughters who are my world, so I could not imagine leaving them to persue medical school. Although, my medical school would certainly change the course of their futures, too.

I say do whatever you know is going to be your passion because living with regret...well, sucks.

Good luck on losing the last 40 pounds, by the way!

Thank everyone for the replies! Everyone keeps telling me to do this medical program, then go back and I will have money to pay for whatever else I want to study.. while that is practical - I just don't think I would enjoy it. The only reason I stayed in school as long as I did before was because I loved one of my teachers, and my English class. I have no doubt that if she wasn't there I would have been gone a year or two before.

I know I will have to study things I don't want, but I atleast want to do SOMETHING that interests me, and as of right now ( I haven't tried the classes) the medical field does not.

Thanks everyone for the replies though. They are all greatly appreciated!

I just woke up btw, ugh. I think I need to see someone about this sleep issue. I am going to take some cold medicine tonight to knock me out I guess. It is so frustrating.

I really hate this schedule, and I am out of meds to make me sleep! So frustrating, I either eat to much or to little. I hardly ever exercise when I am on this sleeping pattern, I always feel tired and lazy. I am going to attempt to stay up till at least 4 pm tomorrow, that should make me fairly tired and be on a somewhat regular schedule. :/

I am going to make myself get on the treadmill tonight, for like an hour at least. I think after im done typing this I am dropping everything and going to do it, or I will just put it off.

I have a few things to do this week, I am going to the college to talk to the counselor there, and I forgot to answer earlier, the college is a community college in my small town- I plan on transferring somewhere later. I also think I have to take the COMPASS test this Thursday ( just to see what classes I should start off with, which I know I won't do so well- I am WAY out of practice).

My sister is leaving this weekend for Texas to train for a job , she is becoming the new manager at Perfume Mania ( I think thats the name anyways). So I have to watch her dogs for her.

I am going to cut back on diet soda's again- probably go cold turkey. That seems to work better. My eating habits have been out of whack, and its this schedule. When I am up during the day I get so much more accomplished, and just feel more energetic. I have a meal plan for the next month ( yes, I am THAT bored. ) lol. So once I get on my regular schedule I will use that, and make myself get back on track. I am not doing terrible, but I could do better. Mainly the snacking is getting to me- and diet soda's make me feel yucky. So I need to cut them out again.

I also plan on trying a few different things this week, I have recently looked into cycling. So that might be something I enjoy. I really wish I had people around me who chose to live a healthier lifestyle. It is so hard to be the only one here who does it:p. Everyone around me peer pressures me into stuff, I usual refuse, but sometimes I give in. I also wish my family would take better care of themselves, my mom in particular. People will do what they want though, they can't change unless they are ready too.

So far my food today has been..

-Bowl of raisin brand, with milk
-subway melt on wheat, with mustard
-bag of baked lays
-and lots of cheezit's that I need to hide ><

Activity so far today consists of.. a mile on the treadmill, and some minor weights. I plan on doing more later.

Ok, I said above that I can fit into size 13's... well I have some pics, but they are super long- and a little snug, they should fit better in a few pounds, but they are wearable. Gonna post them, sorry I am to lazy to photobucket it. I cropped my head out of the first pic, cause I looked like a loon- I had a crazy eye.

The picture with three, is because I have a new phone and uh.. I pushed a button! and it took three pics! Its cool regardless!

Curse me for being short!

Alright, I am back on a "normal' schedule, yay. The bad thing is, TOM started today- I knew it would because now that I am on birth control, its like clockwork. I feel so totally crappy. I don't even want to eat, which leads me to my next question- Does anyone know any meal replacement shakes , that do not have TONS of sugar? SlimFast has so much sugar. I am just so not hungry, but maybe I could drink something. I don't want to just not eat.

I have to force myself today to exercise. Ugh, I feel really crappy, but I really need to. So soon as everyone leaves I will hop on the treadmill, and then do some weights. I love blasting the music, so I will wait till everyone leaves.

I went to the college to talk to the head of recruitment today- it went fine, I do not have to take the COMPASS until I want to, I plan on doing it in Dec. Also, I am suppose to call and schedule a meeting with the counselor, so I will do that sometime this week.

I will update how today goes, but I feel totally crappy, so I might just pick up a meal replacement shake, and just force myself to eat later. I just really don't feel like doing it though.

Just a note on sizes... you might know this but..

odd number sizes are juniors sizes - and are cut for females who have virtually no curves at all... You'd probably get a more flattering fit (not that those look bad, but they don't look comfortable) if you switched over to even number sizes, or the misses sizes, which are cut for people who aren't shaped like prepubescent girls.. and misses sizes you've got a much deeper variety of styles of jeans - and different cuts as well - some are cut fuller than others.

My mom was nice and picked these up, and I have hardly any clothes that fit at all, but sizes are so hard to find for me, the other jeans I have are 16's but they are so loose now, but when I go to 14's they don't fit right either. On top of that I am short, so if I don't buy things that are short, or Petite, I am doomed to have my pants go way below my shoes if I don't wear heels ..

We basically have two places to shop here for clothes, Goodys or J.C Pennys, and the variety is so slim. :(

Maybe I just need to go to a stylist or something, because I have the hardest time finding clothes now days, :(

my guilty pleasure is What Not To Wear - the one thing they can't stress enough on that show is that very few bodies out there fit perfectly into a size... get a tailor -having pants hemmed doesn't cost a lot and having waists nipped in a bit is also fairly cheap -and makes a huge difference in how the garment hangs on your body...

I sentence you to watching it the next time they have a marathon :D

Haha ok!, make sure to tell me when it is on! :p
