This will be my "before" pic: 300 lbs.

golly, you look great and handsome!

it's good too that you wore the black tshirt (sans the polo shirt) and shorts you wore on your 'before' shot! how'd it feel to get back into those pair of camouflage shorts with a leaner bod? :D

I don't think I've owned a belt since i was 14. It feels awesome thinking I get to go to the store today and find something to keep my pants up...or just go down a pant size from 42 to 40.

lose weight eating slowly?

Hello BillyHaleck,

You can do this!! Just fight the battle of the bulge!! You could take your measurements every week too! Sometimes inches come off b4 the number on the scale drops. Which can be a nice motivation as well. Taking a pic every two weeks may be right up your alley, I like to take my pic once a month. :)

Is there a reason you're going vegetarian...besides cutting out meats? Or is that just a main goal? Have you done that b4? Or is it JUST to lose weight? I know other's have done it, and it is doable, I would just think it may be setting yourself up for failure, if it's too big of a push right now. (unless you've been a vegetarian on and off for most of your life and know how to keep those protein levels up. :)

What kind of activities are you interested in doing? Walking, Running, Riding, Swimming, Sports, Fitness Class?

I've found 2 liters of water to be a great amount per day. It's cleared some of my skin, washes out my body, helps break down my food, ect. :)

I think you already show tons of strength for posting a pic on a weight loss forum, and I am glad you're able to join us in losing weight, as well as changing your lifestyle for the better!!

Take Care :waving:

Have you tried eating slowly? (taking at least 20 minutes?). Google "eating slowly"

A friend recently mentioned "taking time with a meal" to me and I never even considered it before. I found that I actually have a terrible habit of plowing through meals. "Cleaning one's plate" and "finishing a meal" may have had too much emphasis put on them in the household I grew up in. Since checking that stuff out I take careful notice and try to really enjoy a meal and not just scarf it down as fuel. I try to put the silverware down in between bites...but I have to be thinking about it to do it because it still hasn't kicked in as habit yet. Every little bit helps.

Congrats on your weight loss so far! It's a great idea you have going 50 lbs at a time, it will feel good every time you hit a new goal. Good luck!

There is a book "Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz (Which I need to re-read), very interesting, it says that a habit takes at least 21 days to kick in but it is possible to create virtual experience through vizualizations. like when you go to a job interview, you prepare yourself mentally for answering possible questions, well, we need to rehearse mentally how we are going to eat: like drinking a glass of water first, being relaxed and eating slowly. There are now on the market "plates for eating slowly" that stay hot for 30 minutes plus. so that your food does not get cold.
