Good morning diary
I have, for a few weeks now, changed up my routine (especially with the bike being in the mix now) and I just wanted to express my thoughts on how that's going for me.
Without a doubt, it was the right move. I don't post my mileages on my diary anymore but I have kept a daily total on (one of many) Mal's Challenges section. Though the mileages are deceptive - it appears I'm going longer and farther but in reality I spend more or less the same amount of time dedicated to my cause and I've increased the cardio rate as well (some).
I feel like 'working out' 2-3 times a day route is the way to go. It certainly treats my ol' body better doing shorter distance with rest in between. I feel like my energy levels support my task a lot better too - which has been key. I've tried to change up my eating to coincide with my exercise instead of 'running the tank on *E*'
Even at my reduced weight and my agility, mobility and stamina serves me better, I still see the value in 'having something to work with'. What really feels right is never having to 'explore' different 'alternatives' that this forum is laced with. I've seen some relatively experienced weight losers grasping for the 'next fix' and I can understand this - kinda. We do go through the 'reinventing ourselves' prospecting phases - me included (at times and mostly just 'thinking about it'). I think we try to trick our minds and bodies into the fast track mode and (temporarily) ignore common sense. What's wrong with 'coasting' to the finish line ?? The mental bad habit of course. If we lapse with only 20 to go, chances are we'll have 25 to go before we'll have 15 to go.
Reinventing oneself needs to be carefully monitored and really you need to stay within the proximity of what you have done to successfully lose weight. I think honesty is a big issue right here. I was honestly getting tired. I honestly knew how I got to this point of being tired. I honestly knew if I didn't change something, I was going to lapse. My process was fairly simple - shorter distances more often. My body is responding nicely to the change and with it the mental state rewards you 100-fold. An exhausted, achy body really upsets the mind. A fresh, well-rested body with food in it ready to burn is a great beginning for a workout, more willing to work with the mind instead of against it. If you're defeated before you walk out the door then you won't want to do the task at hand.
But then I don't take too kindly to the word 'defeated', do you ??
Here's to you doing something extraordinary today
