This Trucker Fights Back

Good morning diary :)

I have, for a few weeks now, changed up my routine (especially with the bike being in the mix now) and I just wanted to express my thoughts on how that's going for me.

Without a doubt, it was the right move. I don't post my mileages on my diary anymore but I have kept a daily total on (one of many) Mal's Challenges section. Though the mileages are deceptive - it appears I'm going longer and farther but in reality I spend more or less the same amount of time dedicated to my cause and I've increased the cardio rate as well (some).

I feel like 'working out' 2-3 times a day route is the way to go. It certainly treats my ol' body better doing shorter distance with rest in between. I feel like my energy levels support my task a lot better too - which has been key. I've tried to change up my eating to coincide with my exercise instead of 'running the tank on *E*'

Even at my reduced weight and my agility, mobility and stamina serves me better, I still see the value in 'having something to work with'. What really feels right is never having to 'explore' different 'alternatives' that this forum is laced with. I've seen some relatively experienced weight losers grasping for the 'next fix' and I can understand this - kinda. We do go through the 'reinventing ourselves' prospecting phases - me included (at times and mostly just 'thinking about it'). I think we try to trick our minds and bodies into the fast track mode and (temporarily) ignore common sense. What's wrong with 'coasting' to the finish line ?? The mental bad habit of course. If we lapse with only 20 to go, chances are we'll have 25 to go before we'll have 15 to go.

Reinventing oneself needs to be carefully monitored and really you need to stay within the proximity of what you have done to successfully lose weight. I think honesty is a big issue right here. I was honestly getting tired. I honestly knew how I got to this point of being tired. I honestly knew if I didn't change something, I was going to lapse. My process was fairly simple - shorter distances more often. My body is responding nicely to the change and with it the mental state rewards you 100-fold. An exhausted, achy body really upsets the mind. A fresh, well-rested body with food in it ready to burn is a great beginning for a workout, more willing to work with the mind instead of against it. If you're defeated before you walk out the door then you won't want to do the task at hand.

But then I don't take too kindly to the word 'defeated', do you ??

Here's to you doing something extraordinary today :)

I'm really happy that you're finding your current process is working so well for you both physically and mentally. For sure we do need to re-evaluate and tweak what we're doing from time to time and it is lovely to see it pay off with energy and good spirits.

Funnily enough I've just finished writing in my own diary that I need to give myself more sleep and come here to see you talking about the advantage of having a fresh, rested body!! Too true. (I'm going...I'm going...)

The opportunities we find to surprise ourselves with in this weight loss journey can be amazing. I'll have to think about my possible extraordinary activity when I wake up I think. I'm glad you posted that. It is worth thinking about.

You 'debate' going out for a walk ?? WHERE HAVE I GONE WRONG !?!?!?!?!

Didn't you see the snow day pictures???? It snowed most of the night, and on and off throughout the day. But the sun is shining, and it's finally above zero, so I'm going to go for a LONG, LONG jaunt today. :)

ohh man ain't it the truth........I was just recently pondering my state of being aproximatly one year ago..........at 300lbs.... setting in my sweat pants, with a pepsi in my hand and a greasy burger in the other saying " I need to go on a diet" as i reached for some fries...........I really can't say what made me go for the change..........I just did.......one day at a time....and like M2M says one meal at a time.........and waala..........My fat started to leave...........it is contrary to the "ignore it and it will go away" thing.........I had to really get in it's face and tell it off......cry and plead and sweat............cry some more.........but here i am...........anyone can do it......."regardless of the ugliness"

WOW. I love ya, Randy!

Not a chance in hell!!!!!! I like the new me and the things that i am able to do now......things i never dreamed i would do.........like loose 110lbs..........or lift weights and like it!!!! I also like the way i have organized my house ( fridge neat and organized, cupboards, drawers, closets, everthing......tidy house tidy mind) I hated the old pathtic me.......and in turn hated everthing around me..........not a fun way to live!!!! I agree with you when you say we need to be honest and realize when we are going to stall or relapse as it may be..........I know that when i was stuck at 200lbs i was ready to pack it in.......and i did do some crazy stuff to try and get back on the weight loss truck........but over all just trying anything other that backsliding was productive for me and i eventually broke my 200lbs and now life is better and i realize that i have to work for what i really want and just keep on keepin on!!!!!
love n hugs bro!!!

Hi! I'm brand new here and wanted to say hello. I was looking for someone who started out with lots of weight to lose...like me...and found you! I am going to go start my very own diary thread as soon as I'm finished with this post, but you truly are an inspiration. I have posted my before pics at my starting weight of 331. I'm having some back-pedaling issues right now because I tried to go down to 1200-1300 calories a day and it just wasn't working for me. I was miserable. I'm back up to 2,000 cals, but I also twisted my knee and haven't really been able to work out. I was down 20 lbs, but I'm back up by about 5 and feeling discouraged. What do you think?

What do you think?

I think 2000 cals should bring you a loss albeit not as quickly obviously. I also think you need to be careful on 1200-1300's and without medical supervision it's probably best you abandoned that anyway.

As far as your knee goes, well take the time to get it healed before you get actively mobile again in an exercise capacity. The secret here is you just want to increase your heart rate and you don't need your legs to achieve that. Stick your arms straight out and clap rapidly for 20 minutes - I'll bet ya a diet Pepsi, you'll be sweating AND you'll increase your heart rate by 30-40 beats per minute :) I'm sure there are other heart busters out there on the web where you don't need to put press on your leg.

You do need to stay after it though and it may not be exactly what or how you wish to exercise but it is exercise and you like so many others on here have to get in a groove of doing it consistently.

I also think you can reach your goal and I know you'll love the new you - we all do. Losing that 20 lbs felt pretty damn good, didn't it ?? of course it did !! now you wanna keep that momentum going. Your diary and this forum will certainly help you that way. We live, breath and reek of oozing weight loss drippings in here. We can be/are that fanatical about weight loss here - well some of us are ;)

Now it's your turn to shine donia :) Welcome to WLF. I'm looking forward to reading your story :)

Wow, I was inspired to read your post about doing 2-3 workouts per day and mixing things up to prevent a lapse. I would love to find a boyfriend to go to the gym with 3 times a day. Especially, if he wore a Gladiator Uni. Keee...ryste!

I was looking at your posts in the Round the World Challenge earlier. Your effort really is extraordinary and I am so glad that you found a way to get a better result from it.

I hope you're heading in to another great day, today.

T2, thanks for stopping by my diary. I responded to you there, but just wanted to wish you a great, although quite chilly for May, Thursday!

Just wanted to say hi.......so hi! Hows it going?

Howdy hi Sleepy !! It goes and it goes here. I'm really on big high right now, things are just hitting on all cylinders as planned. The hot weather evaporated here for what looks to be quite awhile it won't slow me down much.

Hope all is well down south.

Hey T2! Hope you didn't get into any trouble without me, your lovely forum daughter hanging around! :D How has your week been going?

Hi forum daughter *beams* Dear Dad in trouble ?? Me ?? huh ?? Surely NOT !! How can I raise you right if I set a poor example ??

Hope all is well in the northwest corner :)

Shaaa-right !! Now wouldn't I look silly commuting 'way the hell up there' on my chariot ??

T2's manlaw: 'Never workout with a woman who will smoke you in the gym'. It is so written. (bedroom, that's another story)

Thank you Kerry :) (I wanted to write 'beloved' in there but chickened out)

Thanks for navigating the forum and finding my efforts. I became a lil spooked about posting twice (here and there) not so much I felt like I was bragging (which I'm not), it just seems silly to do it twice.

Thanks for clearing up my questions Princess. I hope you get the kickstart you're looking for and I'm even sorrier things are emotionally distracting right now for you.

I hope you can find a way to disconnect the emotions from the table. I know it's 'easier said than done' but it can be done.

ur a great help and motivation to many t2!

thnx for all the great info

Thanks Jeremy. I'm really just a windbag :p a much smaller windbag I might add.
