Hey everyone,

A quick introduction; I've just signed up to this forum to share my journey of getting fit and healthy with you, and to also try and give myself an extra incentive to keep at it!

I'm 22 years old and currently weight 189 LBs, which is just under 14 Stone. I am 6"0 tall, and my BMI is 25.5.

My goal date is 1st October 2009.

My goal weight is 12.5 Stone which is 175 pounds.

I aim to be more toned and less fat.

I signed up to the gym on the 1st of June and have been going one day on one day off since, only missing one session.

My gym session consists of;

5 minute warm up
20 minute cardio/200 calories burnt (I carry on until both of these have been completed)
20 minutes quite intensive weight training on resistance machines
20 minute cardio/200 calories burnt (Again, completing both targets)
5 minute cool down with lighter weights
5 minute cool down on the running machine
20 minute moderate swim, breast stroke
Cool down in jacuzzi & sauna

I generally aim to burn 500 calories on the cardio machines each session.

This routine has been doing me really well, not so much for weight loss (as of yet) but for general motivation and actually wanting to go to the gym.

I have tried to get into shape before but was always too lazy to go to the gym. Now I have signed up to a gym that I like going to, with really friendly staff and really nice facilities, I see it as being a good few hours out of the house as well as a really good gym session. I plan to stick to this.

I'm also working part time in a restaurant, which means i'm walking around carrying plates between 20-30 hours a week, the rest of my time I'm sitting down, apart from when I'm walking to the bus stop, around the supermarket, cleaning the house etc.

For the last two weeks I haven't been eating too healthily, but after weighing myself today have realised that YOU NEED TO EAT WELL aswel as doing exercise in order to effectively lose weight and keep it off.

I used to drink almost every night, usually only half a bottle of wine in the evening and usually a lot more at the weekend, from now I plan to only have a glass of red wine with dinner on the days I am not at the gym, and cut out eh binges.

As for diet, my daily diet will be something like this;

Breakfast - Small bowl of weetabix, 1% fat milk
Snack - Another small bowl of weetabix OR a slice of wholegrain toast OR a banana
Lunch - Cous cous with a small portion of meat OR scrambled eggs on toast OR a salad
Dinner - Some kind of wholegrain rice with meat and veg OR fish and rice OR a jacket potato with chilli

This is not exact but you get the general idea. I'm trying to completely cut out sat fats such as chips, crisps, sweeps, anything in batter, fried chicken, pizzas etc. I'm also going to try and stick to wholegrain/wholewheat food if I'm eating bread, rice, cereal etc.

I also don't plan to completely cut out food I really enjoy, and treating myself to a meal out with the gf once every two weeks.

I'd like to keep my progress updated with you guys and also hear any feedback you guys have to offer!

Thanks for reading.

Ok third day in with the healthy eating and going ok so far...

Stuck to under 2,000 calories yesterday (burning around 3600 throughout the day)

And currently on 600 calories today, with a nice healthy dinner to come!
