I'm sure everyone has tried to diet at least once in their lives.. i'm just wondering what makes things different this time around????

For me.. i think this time instead of thinking about it as an actual diet and being more physical... i have thought about it as a life style change... and i have mentaly prepared myself and accepted what i need to do.. where as other times i guess i didnt... and i feel soo much better about it this time where as other times i saw it as just a challenge... IM EXCITED :willy_nilly:

For me, it is the wonderful mix of cognitive therapy and SSRI drugs giving me the ability to actually function as a somewhat normal human being when it comes to self-change :)

Well that and the fact that I to this day dream of wearing a H/H longsleeve tshirt with the stripy arms and looking good... man.. thats gonna be the best day ever.

Well, for me as years going past I am getting wiser more selective with my health, diet and whole life. My experiences do make different this time. It's wonderful feeling to realized that you got some.

Cheers

I think you do learn from every failure basically. that sounds like crap but it can be true.

For example I've learnt (from my failed diets)

- what kinds of snacks fill me/I like
- the best meals for me to eat to fill me, psychologically as well as biologically (so yes to potatoes, bread, fish but no to soup, pasta, rice, salads)
- what kind of exercise I like and when I will stick to it (running, morning)

I think it is working as I have lost the weight with basically no pain so far. Normally I have a 'no pain, no gain' burst of energy which involves killing myself jogging for a week or so, trying to 'eat healthily', loosing an initial burst of weight, feeling really high, slacking off a bit and then giving up.

Sometimes it's stability of other things as well. Lots of stressful situations or disruptions can derail you.
