theworkoutexperiment.com

theworkoutexperiment.com is launching August 20th. It will be an analysis of a rigorous 10-day session (with one day rest between 5 days of intense workouts), including cardiovascular exercise and intense weightlifting. Daily analyses will be performed, including a breakdown of workouts, nutrition, photographs, and more. My brother and I would love to hear some feedback from you guys before launching, and continued feedback as we take part in our experiment.

We aim to "overtrain" for ten days to see whether results are positive or negative, and the degree of these results. The regimen involves:

1. One hour of jogging every morning
2. 1 - 1.5 hours of intense exercise in the late afternoon/evening
--- Day 1: Either swimming or running
--- Day 2: Chest/Tris/Shoulders/Abs
--- Day 3: Either swimming or running
--- Day 4: Back/Bis/Abs
--- Day 5: Sprints
And some variation of this cycle repeated for the 5 days after the mid-way resting point. No legs are included because so much emphasis is placed on running that it would be unwise to have sore legs.
3. Approximately 3000 calories per day, consisting of a balanced diet with high protein, dispersed throughout the day in 5 to 6 meals.
4. Stretching before and after every running session.

Let us know what you think and we hope to see you on our website during the experiment.

Thanks,
Anton and Nikita

No thanks.

What about other core muscles?????

What about leg strength training?????

where will compound exersises fit in that include traps and legs??????

You'll get a better reaction from general fittness forum than weight lifting.

U'll be hard pushed to get good results from working Chest, Tri's and sholders in one day, and "back" on another. sure, they'll be some, but u'd be better to try a much longer experiment. You cant find out much in 10days, plus you'll need to wait 2-5 days after to see the full results.

I understand, but this is an analysis of a short-term, high-intensity workout program. The results will be monitored after the workout is over, during a 4-day complete rest period.

The intent of the experiment is to see whether or not 10 days of intense exercise has any substantial effects on the body. Some more information: I am an avid weightlifter and runner, my brother is not. It will be interesting to note the comparison in results.

I cannot incorporate any exercises incorporating legs due to the emphasis we place on running. This is not a muscle-building program, but an analysis of the effects of "overtraining."

Thanks for the input, though.

Oh rite that makes a diffrence. whats it for???

I think you may find some interesting results if you did 10days of pure CV overtraining, rest, 10days of Muscle building, rest then compare the results to the program youve writen there.

just a thort

Definitely an interesting thought, and we will definitely consider it. Currently we don't have the resources (time) to perform over ten days of analysis, but if this goes well then we'll have a pre-made template to continue our experiments.

This is for no reason in particular -- equal parts motivation and curiosity.

Thanks for your interest!
Anton
