There's a fine line between livin' it up and losin' it all!

Alright, I am going to start a journal to get rid of about 38 lbs that keeps wanting to hang around. I was doing great, and then just gave up for a week or two due to high stress, a break up, and not caring. I am now back on track, though, and ready to do what I can through the summer to get the body I want. No pictures yet because I do not own even a camera phone (because it seems I always end up drinking too much and then breaking or losing my phone! Imagine that!)

I decided to kick this off by filling out some of the information from the sticky--just to get the information out there!

1. What is your current height and weight? 5'7 / 146 lbs
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 118 lbs
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 130 lbs (At about 2 lbs weight loss a week)
4. Why do you want to lose weight? To feel better about myself--and because it makes me more confident which in turn makes my sex life better. And I LOVE sex! Plus, I want to prove that I can do it!
5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? No specific event. Just the event called LIFE!
6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? My family gets concerned if I lose too much weight. Plus, I tend to self sabotage at the point where I REALLY start making progress.
7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Bingeing, emotional eating, too much alcohol.
8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Handle stress better. Don't get so down on myself, and don't hate myself for minor slip ups.
9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Yes. I lost weight using a lower calorie diet (1500 calories a day) and working out with running and yoga and pilates. I was also waitressing full time-- as opposed to my now more sedentary occupation.
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I gained it back because of eating from my emotions.
11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Hmmm... Not sure. I know why I have trouble losing weight- it is when I slip up and do not watch my intake and exercise as careful as I should.
12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? I do that every day. I have counted calories daily since I was 19.
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Protein pancakes, mostly. Other than that, I eat salads.
14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Maybe once every one or two days. To Panera Bread or Subway. I rarely eat out at places where that do not post the nutritional information of their entrees. Only when I absolutely have to--and then I will have a grilled chicken salad with vinegar.
15. What are your three favorite foods? PEANUT BUTTER, Bananas, Bread (Don't care what kind!)
16. What are your three favorite restaurants? The Bonefish Grill, Panera Bread, The Sunspot
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
17. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? I would be a LOT smaller and not have cellulite on my ass and thighs. My arms would be tone and I would not have love handles. My stomach would be flat with muscle defenition.
18. Do you eat when you are not hungry? Yes-- That is my biggest problem, I think!
19. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? My other biggest problem. I do this maybe once every week or every other week--but it REALLY sets me back. No one knows that I do this, and I hate it. Everything else I do is healthy. Times when I control my bingeing are when my weight drops, my work improves, and my overall life seems better.
20. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? Only during the binges. No other time.
21. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? And PMSing
22. Do you eat as a reward? No.
23. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? If I eat, it is in front of the computer or television. Only because I live alone and it is lonely otherwise.
24. What do you normally eat for a meal? Outside of binges, I ALWAYS eat healthy. Salads, fruit, veggies, lean protein.
25. What type of snacks do you eat? Fruit/ Nuts
26 In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? Cardio 6 days a week, lifting 3 times a week (full body). Cardio is running at 6.0 for about 3 to 5 miles. I ran two full marathons last year and got burnt out, so my running is only now improving.
27. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? Local YMCA or outdoors
28. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Running, And lifting legs (Squats and lunges!)
29. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? The way my clothes fit, how I look in pictures on my Facebook, and the look on my bf's face when I have on a new outfit that fits just right!
30. Do you have rewards for certain goals? No, but that is a good idea!

Okay, I feel as though I am getting back on track. I all but had a nervous breakdown from work stress and life stress yesterday. No fun. I feel better today, though, and am glad it is the weekend! Today's plan is a full body work out and then 30 minutes of cardio. I think my powdered Peanut butter comes today and I can't wait!!

Thank goodness for weekends! It sounds like you are off to a great start so far; good luck with your workout today! I have to ask though - powdered peanut butter?

Okay, wow! I didn't even remember starting this journal--almost exactly two years ago! It is weird to look back and read what I wrote!

So, the funny thing is that I am still at exactly the same weight! First of all, I am not sure why I put that I wanted to lose 38 lbs. I must not have been at a healthy place when I wrote that! Second, I would like to report that the binge eating is no longer a problem. This is absolutely huge for me! I have not done that since I have been married, and I married in November 2009.
It is amazing the positive mental impact that it has to no longer be binge eating (even if I AM at the exact same weight!)

Today was a good day, and Easter Sunday to boot. Service was good (though, I have to say that because I am married to the pastor). Then I relaxed this afternoon, ran 3 miles, and mentally prepared for a very busy week ahead.
Calories were at 1500, but WAAAY too much of that was Easter candy. Ooops!

Welcome back. Are you still trying to lose weight? How much?

It looks like you are in the middle of your healthy weight range for your height. I am about the same too. The bottom end of your healthy weight range is 128 pounds. I hope you don't want to go below that. If you do, you probably have an eating disorder, body dysmorphic disorder and a tendency to anorexia. Have you ever had any counselling? If you get into strife again with stress, i hope you get some professional support. I put on weight when stressed too.

Its good that you have given up binging. Congratulations. I guess you are not stressed anymore.

and congratulations on your marriage.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I would definitely be good at 128... I have struggled with eating disorders in the past, and defintely want to stay healthy more than anything.

I say I want to lose 20 lbs, but it is an arbitrary number. What I want is to rock a swimsuit ;)

This week has been decent, but not great, though it is only Thursday.

I am walking/running a half marathon on Saturday, so we will see how that goes. I was signed up for the full marathon, but have not trained like I should, so I am only going to do the half. I have run two full marathons and two half marathons in the past, but it has been a couple of years since my last one. I was going to skip it all together, but I have a friend who is walking it and it will be her first, so I want to do it with her.

I have a party Saturday after the race, so I am looking forward to eating/ drinking a little extra thanks to the 13 miles that will be under my belt, haha!
Hopefully I won't be too tired to enjoy it! At any rate, life is good!
