The Scale!

I agree with you.

Many people enjoy their life just fine checking their weight every day. Just because it might bother you, does not mean it bothers everyone.

That is pretty much what most people do - regardless of how often they weigh.

NOT everyone stresses.

Of course not, because you didn't read the article ;)

Checking your weight every day CAN and DOES possibly help you lose weight - that doesn't mean it's right for *every* body.

Your one stop answer dosn't apply to everyone either.

If you have any studies to provide, I'd be very happy to read them. If not, it goes back to individual *choice* and *preference*

LOL! Ummm...ok.

And there's one opinion.

Dont act smart, it makes you look silly.

Alright, so I got on the scale and there was no weight change and it's driving me crazy! I have decided to stick with my weekly weigh-ins so I don't go nuts!

Exactly. Honestly its the best thing to do. As long as you KNOW your plan is working, otherwise you will be putting weight on and you wont know until the week ends.

I'm sorry to interject here M, but Eazy I think you're overreacting. No one is attacking you personally, yet you're doing that to M. It has been stated in this thread SEVERAL times that it is about personal preference, why must you/anyone continue to debate/argue or insult someone for pointing out that fact. The research is as it is. It's really not necessary to have this type of insulting name calling, it is counterproductive to the purpose of this forum and its not helping anyone. I hope you take this to heart and continue participating in a manner that is postive and conducive to your/our goals.

Thanks for the reminder OHD...

This is a forum to provide support, encouragement, and information to others. It's not a place to prove that you're right.

Behave please..

because she is full of it sometimes.
She said i needed anger management before and she thought she knew me and my sister, and makes judgements even though she knows nothing about what shes judging. Its called being a know-all. Jess told me to ignore her anyway so!

In the past I have been known to weigh-in everyday, but now that I no longer own a scale, YAY...I'm weighing in only once a week as part of my job's biggest loser contest. I prefer the weekly weigh-ins now, and to be honest I think I would have before as well, but I never had the self control to stay off the scale.

The biggest difference to me is...and everyone is different...I would not see a change for several days and get very frustrated, and then WOOSH...overnight I would lose 5 pounds. It drove me crazy and made the days in between even harder.

And this has what to do with scales? Which, does happen to be the subject of this thread.

For those who like to weigh daily, great, do what works for you.
For those who like to weigh weekly, great, do what works for you.

Which I've pretty much said in every post. Yes, there's data to support daily weighing - but if that isn't something that works, then don't do something that's going to drive you crazy and there are so many other ways to monitor progress as well.

Certainly, no one is going to do what some poster says is the "only best way".

I don't think anyway ;)

Certainly no one is going to daily weigh just because some bogus research says you get better results. People have posted in this thread and said daily weigh in's drive them crazy, as it would most people ;)

You're qualified to calll it bogus? Simply because that research disagrees with your point of view? This from the kid who two or three weeks ago was wanting validation for throwing up?
:::shakes head:::

Perhaps you didn't see the posts from people who said they weigh daily.

It's a personal choice.

Yep its bogus, 3 days ago? it was over 2 weeks ago, someone isnt aware that time goes by
I know its a personal choice, but weighing every week is stress free and the best option :p

Woot weighed today and I'm down 14-15lbs now , I really need to buy a digital so I can stop trying to squint at the moving arrow when I'm still half asleep.:)

You could use those pro scales you find in chemists, it prints off your weight as well so you dont forget it.

Hehe I won't forgot, if I do I'll just ask everyone who sits within earshot since I'm so good at annoucing it through the office. ;)

I started weighing everyday, because I want to see what those little 'slip-ups' are costing me.... like the 500-some-odd calorie blizzard I ate at work the other day. The bouncing of the scale actually doesn't bother me. If it is too big, I know that my little 'slip-ups' are getting really bad, and I would rather get the instant knowledge of that, then think that all is well for a week and see I have gained 10 pounds. ^^

It's every day for me. I think more data is better than less data. If you weigh yourself once a week, then on the day you weigh, you could be up or down a pound or two from what you had been the rest of the week.

But really, you have to learn to ignore the daily or even weekly fluctuations. Your daily record of calorie intake is a better measure of success.

Do not weigh yourself everyday. I used to do that and it drove me nuts. I felt like I wasn't myself anymore when all I could think of was weight loss.
