I'm not sure what's going on with my body but it's not good! I've been working out pretty hard lately, and eating well. However, the weight isn't coming off, in fact it's going in the wrong direction....UP! I'm at a loss here, I'm not sure why I'm gaining the weight, from last week, I gained 2 pounds, WTF?!?!?! I checked back in my food diary, and I'm sticking to my eating plan, I haven't eaten anything out of the norm, and I changed my workout. I don't know if it's muscle, or if I"m just not losing any weight. What do I need to do, any suggestions?

Amy

Hard to suggest without knowing more details. :)

Can you tell us exactly what you're eating and what you're doing to work out? If we can see the details we might be able to help.

For breakfast I either eat a piece of wheat bread with 1 TBL of LF PB or I have a 100 cal english muffin. And fruit
Lunch is a wheat tortilla with two slices of roast beef (98%) FF, with 1 TBL of LF cream cheese, and fruit
Dinner is either chicken or fish, with a green vegatable, and maybe rice.
Water in take, at leat 60 ounces a day. I drink more than that but I make sure I drink at leat 60.
Workout, walk/run for 30 minutes. I do about 15 minutes of abs, 10 minutes of legs, and arms. I usually use weights for those. I switched up my workout becuase I was doing the same one for a month and a half and a friend of mine told me to switch it up because your body gets use to one workout.
So I'm not sure, maybe I'm just eating the same foods over and over again, and it's not good for my body, or I'm just getting more muscle? I just don't know!!!!!

Thanks!

These are my thoughts:

1 - Based on what you describe for what you eat, I suspect you're not eating enough and you've stalled out your metabolism. If what you wrote is 100% accurate, you're taking in less than 1000 calories a day, which is way lower than you should be eating unless you're under the care of a doctor. I don't know how much you weigh currently, but a good way to get an idea of how many calories you should be eating is to multiple your current weight by 15 and then multiply that by .70. That'll give you a 30% reduction in your maintenance calories and will lead to a healthy and sustainable rate of loss.

You're also not getting any healthy fats that I can see. You need to have fat in your diet to help you process other nutrients. Fat is not the enemy; a good 20% of your daily intake needs to be in the form of healthy fats.

2 - If you changed up your exercise and are exercising more intensely, it's possible that you are retaining some fluid in your muscles. I think that's probably some of the issue and that retained fluid will eventually go away and/or balance out, but even so, it'll go back to the food issue above. If you're working out really hard and not getting enough nutrition, your body will actually go backwards and start holding on to fat.

I suspect it's a combination of the two things above, primarily keying on the food/nutrition part.

Also, if you are due to get your period any time soon or are on it... you can put on 2-5 lbs... i ALWAYS gain 3 lbs about 2 days before my period and i retain that until the day after....

Just a thought... because when i watch the scale like a hawk... which i know you amy so i know YOU DO TOO!!! I use to stress out and get really discouraged by the fact that my weight went up.

Also..... as much as i hate breakfast... and hated the idea of it... you need to make sure breakfast is BIGGER..... if anything eat more at breakfast than you do any other meal... it really gives your body a kick start in the morning! add in maybe some oatmeal? or an egg or two? Maybe try doing oatmeal and fruit one day, 2 pieces of light wheat toast w/ pb and an egg another?

just some ideas!!! Good luck girl!!!!
