The Road to Change...

Pequin, lol. I wanna walk at night, but even though I live in a good neighborhood, I'm still scared of weirdos that might be outside roaming around. I neeeeed to find someone to walk with, that would make me feel better about it...

Oh my god!! Be so very carefull! I've walked at night a whole 1 time. What a fiasco! I almost got hit twice & nearly mugged! And I live in the steriotypical, white bread & grape jelly small town neighborhood!!

lol.. but good luck! :D

So today I took my dog to dog training class, and it was actually a little workout for me too. Hehe. I walked around the store a lot teaching him stuff, and I actually worked up a sweat. Pretty coooliooo.

Going to Curves later, gonna work out pretty hard today since I can't go on the weekends. Well, actually I think I can go on Saturdays, I'll have to see. I might as well go... working out feels good.

Yeah, he learned lots. He's a wild little thing, he learned how to walk without pulling the leash. And how to stay until I call him. :)

So, here are some things that I want to do when thin... made the list of the first things that came to mind...

1. Do a professional model shoot. When I was younger (Well, about 6 years ago, around age 18) people told me all the time that I should be a plus-sized model. I've always wanted to do it but my insecurities got in the way. But at the weight I am now, I'm even over normal plus-size model standards. So when I reach my goal weight of 150lbs, I know that I'll still be a bit thick, and I'll still be considered a plus-size by industry standards.

I don't even really want to pursue being a model, I just want to do the photoshoot. With the clothes, and the poses, and being able to present my success in a professional sort of way.

2. Wear a two piece bathing suit. Nuff said.

3. Take a hip-hop dance class. And Take a kickboxing class. (I'll do this probably even before I reach my goal weight)

4. Dress like a complete SLUT once in a while. Yep, I said it. :)

5. Fly to some exotic place, but ah, here's the rub: NOT having to ask for an extra seatbelt to buckle me in during the flight.

Thank you CFL, Thank you for the motivation on exercises. I have been slugging around about getting back into my exercise regime. I am a member of Ladies Workout Express (kind of like Curves). We also have bikes and treadmills and classes. I have not gone for a few months but will get back there this week (need to get their hours again). Tomorrow after work I am going to go on a walk. Slow at first but will build up to a comfortable and "non killing" pace. Oh how I feel like I am dead after a workout.
Good luck. Write me any time you wish. Anyone can. I am a newbie so still learning my way around. (today is my first day on getting around).

Hi! Just grazed upon your diary and thought I would comment. I understand completely about the food network, some people are soooo annoying- im sorry but I HATE EMERIL! My fav will always be Alton Brown, he actully goes into detail about how the food works and makes it interesting, I also love the food competitions...that said I don't get to watch Food Tv besides my breaks at work when the back bar is closed and people arent back there watching sports.... i need to get cable at my house, but then I'd never get anything done, I mean look at my life now that I got the internet lol...im always on here... well good luck and keep up the great work!

Thanks for stopping by ChefAshley. Yeah, a lot of people don't like Emeril. For one thing, he's not as funny as he thinks he is, but I do like the dishes he makes. Alton Brown? I had to google him, lol, now I know who you're talking about. Whenever he comes on I always change it because he seems too silly in the beginning. I should give him a chance. :)

Good luck with you too, see ya around. :)

hmmm i just went to the website....still lookin around. i duno the guys u mention but hv u heard of jamie oliver? we've his shows here and i tot he's cute! hahahha.

hv a good day!

Hey I finally understand someone you guys are laking about, as Jamie Oliver is English-yay!! (I do think he's cute PD, and he's done some really good stuff over here as well, going to the government to improve the quality of children school dinners: and it's working!!)

Thank you CFL on the heads up for the website on soda. Will check it out.
I wanted to comment on the Food Chanel also. Just love it. I don't ever cook anything on there, but if I have cable that and baseball is all I ever watch. I don't even like to cook. Do it very seldom.
Hope all is going well for you today.
I plan on starting a diary and changes start on Monday. (finishing off my soda and mocha I have in the house).
Did not exercise after work, ran around the store for 4 hours straight helping customers and etc.
Have a great day.
(hope I posted reply correctly  )

I just read your list of five things to do 'after'.

I totally feel you on #1 - I wouldn't want to pursue modeling either but the idea of getting pro photos to commemorate the goal weight is fantastic. Like the real thing - not a glamor shots mall type thing..lol.

And number 4 was totally unexpected but oh so understandable. One of my 50 things to do before I die is to buy & wear a fabulous pair of red heels.

Actually I can totally relate to your whole list. Good luck! You can do it!! And I want to see your model pictures when your get there girlie!! ;):D

So today was an okay day for dieting I guess. I'm starting to eat all the calories I should and I feel like I'm eating too much. I'm not used to eating this much. Before I started dieting I would just eat breakfast and dinner, skipping lunch, which is probably a huge reason why I'm overweight. Now I gotta eat a bunch. Ugh.... It just doesn't feel right.

On top of that I have a sick compulsion to wanna step on the scale every five minutes. lol. So this afternoon I stepped on the scale and it said that I was like 5lbs lighter. I was so happy, even though I knew that it was water weight! But theeeen, I stepped on it later (why I did this, I don't know), and it said that I was only 2lbs lighter.

I heard that you weigh less in the morning, or earlier in the day than in the evening, but sheeeesh that was annoying to see.

I need to practice what I preach and only weigh myself once a week, in fact, I should throw the scale away, its old anyway, and probably very inaccurate, so I'm probably having a cow for nothing.

At Curves they weigh us once a month. Which is probably the smartest thing to do...

So I've been seriously stressing out over what to eat. The main thing I'm stressing about is counting calories so much that I'm dreaming about little calories chasing me down. :p I understand that I'm suppose to have a certain minimum and maximum of calories to function, and that's cool, I can handle that.

A friend of mine has lost 63lbs in about 8 months. She walks about 2 miles a day and she eats whatever she wants, as long as its not after a certain time at night, and as long as its not in excess amount. She does not like vegatables and fruit, she does not eat it.

I think she's doing pretty darn good. She's losing the weight slowly, and she's not eating the stuff she doesn't like, and she's learning that exercising is the key, therefore I think the weight will stay off for a long time, as long as she keeps exercising and controls her food intake. She doesn't count calories, or fat, or carbs, or anything.

When I come to this site I get a whole new load of new information about how many calories is needed, and not getting enough, and getting too many. etc. etc. It makes my brain hurt.

I was on Jenny Craig for a while so I know how to eat right. I just NEVER knew that counting calorie intake was so important.

So I'm thinking isn't it okay if I eat about 5-6 small meals a day and exercise daily, exercise enough to burn off those calories??? Must I count every single calorie, must I obsess over it???

Then I go over to YouTube and get a little taste of the new BodyPerformance TV clip. I really admire this guy, and he's saying that FOOD doesn't make you fat, it's just the lack of exercise. So okay, if I eat reasonable food, and small amounts throughout the day, and EXERCISE, then shouldn't everything be okay????

Hey changes!!

I discoverred that body performance guy the other day, a lot of stuff he says does make sense!! (although there is one thing I don't agree with. I don't think "a calorie is a calorie is a calorie". I'd much rather get 200cals from a big big mug of soup than a doughnut!! Though I see the point he's making.

It is NOT good to obsess over every calorie. But at the same time, for ME, not counting the little things (eg drinks, little bites of things) would really add up. And at the end of the day, if you eat more calories than you burn in a day, you WILL put on weight!!!! For me, calorie counting gives me the restrictions that I think I need. It reigns me in!

Your plan, 5-6meals a day+lots of exercise, does sound good. If I were you, I would keep an eye on the calories for a few days though, just so you have an idea of what kind of meal is reasonable and sensible to eat, without going over without realising it.

So, I think that calories are important, but I agree it would be bad and unhealthy (mentally) to get obsessive about it!!!

What do other people think?

Hi again CFL,

I have had good luck in the past with the 5-6 small meals a day with exercise. Three meals and two snacks. Calorie counting is good, but for myself I had to think of food way too much counting the calories and that made it hard for me to stay on track. I agree, I too would rather have a large bowl of soup than a doughnut for the calories. It is all about making the right choices and get moving (don't forget about drinking plenty of water). There is some planning for these meals, but it is worth it. Saves money too (less fast food, even if it is a healthy fast food choice).
