The planning conundrum

I am not sure if anyone else does this.
I have loads of books where I plan my weightloss I write out what I am going to eat, when I am going to excersise and how much I plan on losing. Then I stick to it for oh lets say 5days and then I just leave it - till next time when I re-plan everything.
I have "plans" like these dating back a good 8years. I am so tired of planning!!! Any ideas on how to break this cycle?
It is as though once I planned my weightloss I feel so much better that I lose motivation as though the urgency to lose the weight has left me.:(

sounds like me - i think i was a branch office of barnes and noble i had so many books on weight loss and diet.. the trick, I've found, isn't really in any book. (though the book French Women Don't Get Fat did put some stuff into perspective for me)

It really wasn't what I was eating that makes me fat... It was how much. Most diet plans out there are about depriving you of something... and that deprivation is what leads to binges... It's really been proven time and again that fad diets do not work long term... What does work is a sensible eating plan combined with exercise.

At some point, te light went on (and I wished it went on 15 years ago) and I said, I can have whatever I want, it's just a matter of the amount of calories and the size of the portions I eat...

On a weekly basis, I do some rough planning for the week, just to do grocery shopping, but I also make sure i have essentials in the freezer and the cupboard (like snacks I can have, and fall back dinners) On a daily basis, using , I plan out my meals and in the morning, I know exactly how many calories I'm going to have... and I can work any snacks in as I need them.

Stop thinking of it as a diet... and work on a lifestyle change... and relearn how to eat.

Well said Mal! My best friend and I still have notebooks for our diet plans that we wrote out together when we were 12 years old. We also had planned out how to become co-prom queens and how to get our crushes to ask us out. Lol, we never went through with ANY of it! I try not to plan too much any more, and especially not too far in advance.

I just bought "french women dont get fat" lol!!
But I have not read it yet. I just want to stop planning and start DOING. And I know that only I can do it.

there's a thread on that book somewhere... the diet itself is ridiculous -and the leek soup just sounds nasty and faddish... but the premise behind the book is really good -- that you can eat whatever you want.. wine, chocolate, cheese, bread, etc.. as long as you practice moderation...

To do it - you really have to tell yourself - OK I'm doing it - forget about tomorrow - there's always a reason to put off to tomorrow... a holiday, a party, a special event, illness, etc.. Your next meal is when it starts... :D

So what did you have for breakfast and what are you having for lunch? (I'm bossy today :D
