The perfect pushup

I'm a beginner in doing push ups and I don't really know how to do them as far as keeping your body straight and hand position. Do push-up bars help any? Is there a certain way of chest movement or what??? dunno

thanks

well I was in the Army and we were tested on pushups, basically we would keep our legs straight and about shoulder width apart (or together) whatever you are comfortable with. Arms slightly further apart then the shoulders again, its about comfort. Then the critical part is keeping your body straight and not bending your back or flexing your hips. Basically keep your head up and looking straight ahead, not towards the ground, then as you go down, all you need is to break your Elbow plane, with slightly touching the ground, just "brushing it" then going up, but not locking your elbows. Just do not round your back or "rest" against the ground.

Best of luck

What he said /\ about the position of the head is very important.

You have to be looking straight forward, and your chin (or chest if it's big enough) should just touch the ground - this gives the maximum travel....plus if you suddenly fail, you won't have to eat the ground :p
Hands placed pointing forward, parallel to you body, feet together, and your toes only touching the ground.

Though there are many variations.

Thanks for your help guys, I didn't know about the head looking forward part, I'll definitely do that I just want to get rid of my man boobs lol, I want a flat but toned chest.:)

Thanks alot!
