Hello there from (today) sunny Pittsburgh, PA!! This is the first time I'm posting to the site, although I'm on day 32 of my diet actually. My sisters and I are going on a vacation in the Spring, so we've vowed to all lose weight for it with a little friendly competition! I've been posting at another site, with very little feedback. I won't bore you with all the rehashing, but if you're interested in reading some of my backstory, you can view the original posts at
This forum seems to be full of encouragement and activity, so I'm giving it a go. So far I've lost 21.5 pounds using basically the "smoothie" method. I started out using those Right-Sized smoothies, but when money ran low and product ran out, I switched to Slim-Fast. Now, that payday has come, I've reordered and restarted on the Right-Size. They seem to be working very well for me. They definitely decrease my hunger, which is a big big plus. Other than that, I am just watching what I eat carefully. I am not denying myself foods I love, just keeping the portion sizes very small.
That being said, I try to keep my daily caloric intake to about 1000 calories. Now, please don't go sending me urgent messages of how that's too low. I've been fighting the battle of the bulge for so long and trust me when I say, all or nothing is what works for me. If I keep my calories around 1000 a day, I will lose weight. If I up it even a little, I lose nothing. It's what works for my whacked-out body and I trust you I am getting enough nutrition. I fill up on all the essential vitamins daily, too. And, I'm feeling really good, so that has to mean I'm doing something right.
Now, about exercise. Perhaps if I start exercising I will then increase my daily caloric intake. The fact of the matter is exercise and I have a hate-hate relationship. I hate it...I really hate it. I used to walk about 7 miles a day, when I was at my thinnest. Perhaps if I would have never stopped, I wouldn't have regained all that I lost? I know this. I know that I must exercise. I have really good intentions. But, every morning when that alarm goes off an hour before to walk? I promptly hit snooze for an hour. It's sooo easy to do. And, right now my life is just so busy with work and school, that exercise is a low priority. I know, I know...I must get out of that mindset and I am trying. What I need is a clock that when you hit the snooze button it yells at you and screams "DO NOT TOUCH, GET UP LAZYBONES!!" Someone please invent this. I'll pay the patent app fee for you!!
So, that's my intro in a nut shell. I am single, female, weighing more than I care to share yet....and working on it. I'll let you know how it's going.
