The New Guy

Hello all!

My name is Tyler, I am 6'2" and currently around 250lbs. I am currently a student in northern ontario working on my commercial pilots license.

i was a successful athlete in high school and the year i spent in university, competing at elite levels of volleyball, both indoor and on the beach. At the time I was competing I was an athletic specimen, quick, powerful and talented. Unfortunately when I chose to leave university and consequently stopped playing high level volleyball I slowed the quantity and quality of my training until it all but came to a halt. While I am still in better than average condition for the average person I am nowhere near the level I want to be at.

I would like to use the knowledge and support I can gain from this website to help me make a change in my life and regain the athlete that is still in me. I have begun to dabble in yoga, calisthenics, and I have been using the Insanity workout to get started but I am a long way from reaching my weight, health, and athletic goals.

I would like to be flexible and powerful again and (while it is not my main concern) I would like to get my weight back down to around 200lbs (I was 210lbs playing volleyball).

I look forward to talking to all of you. I am very open so feel free to shoot me a message or chat with me any time.

Ty

Hey Ty, welcome to the forum!

What kind of training did you do while you were playing volleyball? Do you have any interest in incorporating some of that into your routine again?

Also, have you taken a look around the forum at all? There are some really good sticky threads that can provide a lot of really good information for you to get started.

I've had some excellent trainers over the years and much of what we did at the elite level was free weights, plyometrics and later on olympic lifting. All of this was very enjoyable, particularly the olympic lifting. I would love to incorporate this into a workout but unfortunately I haven't found a facility in my area that has the means to provide that kind of workout. I'm still trying to find a workout plan that is not only effective but also keeps me interested.
