The long and winding road hurts my fat feet

You will find the weights will make a HUGE difference in the way you do all your sports. I used to struggle up hills on the bike, now i barely even have to exert effort.
Its great! And when i do exert more effort i go MUCH faster! :D

Hello!! So- I've been a member for a while, and I took a smallllllll break.. and now I'm back and theres tons of new people, and here I am. Checkin in on ya :D (Thats your cue to be realllly friggin excited, lol) kidding, I kid... But anyways, hope to see lots more good stuff from ya, you seem really dedicated, woohoo!!, and have a fantastic Halloween :) !!

Well, since I lifted on Sunday, I used last night to carve pumpkins. ND pumkins. Pics coming soon. Tonight I will probably do either an arc trainer or elliptical for 30 minutes or so, to get back into the swing of things. I have to start watching what I eat a lot better too. I am going to go back to the south beach thing. Its the most sensible trend diet there is. I lost my original 50 on it, and have kept it off since I stopped it. More later. The boss is ocming!@!!!!!

Ok, right now my routine is a little boring, and I am not into posting everything I eat or what not. WHne I get some ineteresting news, I will post it. But in the mean time I am going to post some stuff more related to life then weight loss.

First generally life entry. This is a curiosity question. I am curious what the general consensus is on this:

Is there an absolute truth?

3 choices on this one. Ignore my question, say a simple yes or no, or reply with your reasons for believing what you do, and maybe examples. Again, just a curiosity post.

Is there an absolute truth?

My answer is yes. Why? There are more absolute truths that hold this universe together than you can shake a stick at. Simple examples: There are 3 states of water; when you stop breathing long enough, you will die, etc. Obviously, there are many more when you get into the sciences. And, to open a can of worms, you can argue absolute truth concerning theology.

My $.02

What about an absolute truth regarding something less concrete like principals?

Yes. Thats the can of worms I am opening.

Also, just to open the dialog a little wider, aren't all scientific findings limited to mere human knowledge?

Example: How do we know that death is death at all- I mean no one has ever reported what happens when they cease to live. A reach, yes.

Or how about there being a 4th state of water, which technically there is, at least Einstein thought so.

I mean 1000 years ago someone could have answered that its a truth is that the world is flat with little to no resistance.

Mathmatics seems to be where most absolutes exist, however reductio ad absurdum arguements can dispute almost all mathmatically findings. I don't really understand them, especially not enough to explain them.

Ok, so here is how you can know there is absolute truth- the law of non-contradiction.

Basically the statement "there is no absolute truth" would be true if there was no absolute truth, but since it would be true, then there is an absolute truth, and therefore the statement would be false.

The statement "there is an absolute truth" does not contradict itself. If its true, then it remains true. Example:

I say all philosophies on life are equally valid. Therefore your philosophy on life is as valid as mine, and as true as mine. However, your philosophy on life is "not all philosophies on life are valid, and definitely not equal." They complete contradict each other, and simply cannot co-exist.

Ok, on a weight loss note, I am going back to phase 1 on south beach monday. Going to cleanse my system, and hopefully rid my sugar addiciton by the holidays.

For life pretty much. As far as getting rid of a sugar addiction, I have not really tried other methods. Basically when I say I am a sugar addict what I am saying is that excess insulin does not mix well with my blood chemistry, and right now my body makes a ton of it when I eat sugary foods, and the insulin stays long after the sugar is gone. That excess insulin makes me want to eat more sugar....and the cycle continues. By changing how the body produces insulin or at least deals with it, it breaks that cycle. The only way I know to do that is by staving oneself from sugar and lowering body fat. I am not an expert. If someone else has some ideas chime in for sure. I just know that contemperary thought on the subject is that insulin is a large contributor to obsesity, and obese people tend to have that fact compacted by the fact that they don't convert sugar to fat very effieciently. I am pretty close to certain that no over the counter gimmickry will fix this. It comes down to eating correctly. Macronutrition is so very important. And secondly, being active. So the "eat better, move more," adage tends to be more true then we would like it to be.

Ok, I am back to full motivation to workout and eat right, and thankfully my slump did minimal damage.

Ok, So heres my plan. Breakfasts are going to be turkey sausage, with eggs and some cheese all scrambled together. Lunch will be lite hot dogs, no bun, with mustard. dinners will be various meat and veggies. Thats how I plan on surviving the first 2 weeks of south beach.

I am really looking foward to lifting weights again too. I missed it. My Ipod has missed me these last few weeks too. I miss the podcasts she provides for my listening enjoyment.

Yeah, you'll enjoy getting back into lifting weights. That is satisfying stuff, isn't it? I've been off it myself over a week. Need to do it today!

Start pumping!!!!!!!!

Go! GO! GO!!
You can do it! Like you said, slump hadn't caused much damage so back in the saddle for you!
Keep it up!
Paulette
