Well hello im new here and hopefully ill be here for the long haul , not like my past atempts and give in.
Well im 26 years old and weigh in at 194 kg, I have always been a big lad since i can remember and tried to lose it but never rearly put my full effort into if i'm honest, and the time is now or never.
I went to the docters on the 2nd of november and she gave me some Xenical (orlistat) pills to have 3 times aday just before food .
On the food front looking back at it now i used to eat like a pig i would get up have four rounds of toast with beans and two fried eggs , then dinner time would have a microwavable ready meal [shepherds pie, lasagna] with another two or three bread , or i'd have backon sandwitches , then for tea i would have fish and chips with three bread , [ you can see i used to eat a lot of bread, lol] or something of an equal amount of wrong food ,and thats not including the crisps and cheese and onion rollls etc.
I used to drink quite a lot of alcohol as well say 15+ cans three or four times a week.
I am now eating a boul of cereal for breakfast , two toast and beans , or soup for dinner , and for tea i will have a load of veg and chicken /or a pork chop /, or i will have a jacket potato and tuna or chicken and i try and drink at least five pints of water a day.
For now I have started doing 15 mins on my new excersize bike when i get up in the morning, hopefully this will go up but this is enough for now i think I dont want to do to much to start with as my body is not used to it.
Now i have read a lot of people cut out the bad stuff gradually , but for me I have found it easier to just go for it big time and knock the fried food, alcohol on the head , i will have a drink but only now and then
Anyway that will do for now , and i carnt believe I have actually done this post because its not the kind of thing I would normally do ,

Cheers James

Hey James welcome.... food looks good, once I decipher what it all is lol. The stopping things at once is what id did. It really seemed easier for me than dragging it all out.

Hello Lee Ive just read through a little of your thread, and i noticed that your weight when you sarted this journey is the same as mine is now , if you dont mind me asking what weight are you now after 5 months odd, of slimming?

wednesday 8th nov

Breakfast-2 shreadded wheat/milk = 340 cal

dinner-beans on two toast = 566 cal

Tea - veg and lamb = i dont know, id say between 500-800

total 1406-1706

Exercise bike = 17 min

water = 6 or 7 pints

a good day , id say not sure if my callories are a bit high or not tho

about the calorie intake for today.. it's really low! It's too low for your weight! But if you're not feeling dizzy whatsoever, then I'd say that's okay because you will lose weight... but it's unhealthy!

to low you say , well i have had a headache for a few days come to think of it and that amount od calleries are what i have had for the last week or so roughly

What amount of calories per day were you eating before you began your diet? I've never had a headache from not eating enough, only feelings of weakness and dizziness, along with shaking... But everyone's different.

1700 seems like enough to me, but I don't know... That might just be me, because I've not been a big eater for most of my life. You could try figuring out your BMR and go by that. Google would probably bring up tons of sites on how to calculate it, but I'll do it for you if you want.

Anyways, great job so far =D If you ever need help or encouragement, just send me a PM!

yea if you are at my starting weight then you were taking in about 5000-6000 calories and now 1700....... its a hell of a shock to the system. I lost most of mine by dong half of my maintenance calories.

cheers triumvirate, whats this BMR thing your going on about

yeah id say i was taking that amount in Lee Cause i used to eat loads lol

Here:

It's the calories that your body burns without any activity. You can figure out a good starting point from that, when you figure in how much you burn with exercise.

It's not in the metric system, though :(

*EDIT* Oops... Lee beat me to it!!

there you go. that's the amount of calories you need to MAINTAIN weight. If you minus calories from that, that's the amount you'll lose. 1 lb of fat = 3000 calories.

500 below your BMR would be 1 lb a week, right? Since 500 x 7 = 3500, and it takes 3500 calories lost to lose a pound.

As you said though, many people who are first starting lose a lot more than that =D

Yep :) I lost 20 kgs in like 2 months when I went on my herbalife diet and it only made a deficit of 500 cals a day.. strange huh that was like a year and a half ago.. gained 13 kgs back because i ate all i wanted for a year and ah alf.. so its not that bad.
