Hello everyone. Big Bear here. A close friend of mine told me about this site so that I could check out some pictures and become motivated to lose weight. And I must say the positivity of you folks are amazing. It is great to finally find a community where people know how I feel and can give me positive criticism and feed back oh how to FINALLY shed these pounds.

So here is my story:

I have been big all my life. As a kid I was always the biggest, virtually and horizontally. And in eight grad i stood at 6 feet and weighed about 300 lbs, which was the starting point of my depression when it cam to my weight. Currently I stand at about 6'3 and weight about 325 lbs. I have been taught to be comfortable in my skin because I have a big statue. But every time I question my weight, all I hear people say is ; 'Well you carry it well.' or 'Your just big boned' or 'But cause your so tall, your suppose to weigh so much'. Well I'm tired of holding on to those excuses. I'm tired of being the big target in the room and always sweating from standing still. So, I hope with the help from this community I can finally be the slim fit guy in the room.

Welcome, BigBear!

I love that Lao Tsu quote and often use a version of it while exercising. (I wish I had started to keep track of my distance when I first started walking; I'd love to know how far I've walked at the beginning of this journey.)
This is another Lao Tsu quote I tell myself as well, “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be." For all I know, I've butchered the intent of the quote, but it does help me step back onto the path when I feel guilty from perceived missteps.

I hope you find the inspiration you need. One step in front of the other, and you'll get there!

Hi Big Bear....I like the name :)

Welcome to the site. Journaling really helps and being honest with yourself about your journaling. Its not easy to do this but once you start going and you have short term goals in site you can achieve anything.

Have a great day
Karen

Good luck in your journey! You've joined a great place to learn helpful things, but, more importantly, make friends who will help you through it. :waving:

Welcome to our forum.

This forum really is the place where weight loss dreams can and do come true.

The information is here (check out the sections on exercise and nutrition paying attention to sticky threads) - as is the support (start a diary and visit other people in their diaries and use it to build a support network, join challenges - they really help with support and motivation too).

Nothing comes easy! It does take hard work and discipline. If you can do that you can do pretty much anything. My own weight loss has been life changing and there are plenty of people here who have lost more weight than me.
