The first day of the rest of my life

I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself, since I plan on using this forum quite a bit.

My name is Becca and I am 23 years old and morbidly obese. I am five-foot-one and I haven't even stepped on the scale yet, so I can't tell you how much I weigh...but it's somewhere around 260lbs.

Today some co-workers and I start the task of trying to lose weight. I am doing it for a number of reasons, but mostly because I don't want to die. I am tired of not being able to do the things I want of my size. I am tired of hearing "But you've got such a pretty face"...I am tired of being disgusted with myself.

I've got to do it this time, so wish me luck because here goes everything.

Wishing you success

Hi Becca! I just joined today as well. I am looking for friends to hold me accountable. I'm tired of not wanting to take photos with my sons because I absolutely hate the way I look. Anyway, just wanted to wish you success. Have a great day!

What's Your Plan

Hi Bec,

It sounds like your taking your first step in a long journey. One thing you haven't said though, and that you might want to share with the group, is what plan are you planning on following to achieve your goals? If you were going to build a new house, you wouldn't start without a blueprint. The same logic applies to building a new you, I suspect.

From what I've read here, there are a lot of people with a lot of knowledge who can offer you advice, as well as encouragement. There are many roads to Rome, you just need to find the one that works for you. Let us know!

Hey Becca & ContractorMommy, I'm Jofthepeace. I just joined today too. I was browsing on break at work, and think this site is gonna help. I've started my change in life already, by mainly cutting out my Mountain Dew intake and replacing it with water. Next up, going back to the YMCA to work out.

I'm 6'1" and roughly 300 lbs. I'm a 26 yr old male, and have been between 280-310 lbs for about 12 yrs now....

My overall goal is to just get down to 215 lbs.

Welcome new comers!

I definitely understand what you mean by being sick and tired of being sick in tired.

Once you have made that decision to change your life style, attack it at 100 miles an hour and never look back.

Good luck! god bless and use the forums they are a huge help!

Hi! I just joined the forum today too.. and what a coincidence! Seems we're both starting out with nearly the same height & weight.. I look forward to hearing about your progress. :)

Thanks for everyone for the welcome and good luck to all the other newbies!

My weight-loss plan is simple. No fried foods or soda and a lot more veggies. (Day one and I feel like I am dying for a Moutian Dew!) And I am active, but I'm pushing that up a couple of notches and becoming really active.
