The Firm Workout

Hi everyone!

I've been surfing around here and reading different posts, and I haven't seen anyone mention that they've tried the Firm.

They are really great workout tapes..I don't really have the money to join a gym, and get bored with just walking..but these tapes combine Cardio and Weights and there are so many different tapes that you can alternate them and cause muscle confusion.

I have used these since I can remember, and every time I have been successful at losing weight, they were the reason!

They range from 45-60 min and they are always coming out with new tapes. I personally like the old ones that came out in the early 90's, but that's just my personal preference..I also like the step aerobics tapes that they came out with. I have a set of weights that are 2/4/6 lb weights - Men and women can do them and you can get a weight set at Wal-mart for like $15.

Here is their website if anyone wants to check it out...I've never bought them directly from the website - the older ones that I have I actually found at a Thrift Store and got them for $1 each.

Don't mean to sound like an infomercial..hehe..I just really believe in them..they're great workouts!

very time I have been successful at losing weight
thats a red flag to me -

Being successful at losing weight means losing weight and keeping it off - if you're yo-yoing - losing weight - gaining weight - losing weight gaining weight - that's not really successful..

So i this not a program that you can stick with to keep the weight off?

No...the yo-yoing is all me...its not a diet plan, or a lose weight quick scheme..its a really good set of workouts. Any time that I have lost weight - it has taken me anywhere from 6-8 months to transform my body...but it has been me that has dropped the ball and not stuck with it.

If I would have had the discipline to stick with it, I would have reached my goal a long time ago. It's like with anything, you have to make the commitment...and once I got close to my goals..I slacked off and stopped doing the tapes.

Losing 60 lbs was a success for me...a short-term success. Losing the weight and keeping it off is a long term success.

If you stick with this program, you can definitely lose the weight and keep it off which is what my goal is this time around. As I send in my diary, I have always had the problem of starting a workout to lose weight for a specific date or event - this time its a lifestyle change.

The Firm has enough different tapes to keep you from getting bored and always able to do a different workout.

It depends on which ones you do...I have a bad knee, so the step aerobics are easier for me because I can still get the cardio without the impact on my knee.

But there are a lot of lunges, squats, its not low impact if that's what you're looking for.

I personally cannot do step aerobics because of my knees. I used to love it but the last time I tried it my knees were giving out.

To be honest, any good steady workout plan will give you the results these videos are giving you IMO. Really anything works, depending on the level of your goals, as long as you're moving around and burning calories and gaining muscle. Whatever works for you!

The Cement Effect

Anyone can take the weight off for a little while by doing almost any diet that reduces calories. Drum Roll Please....But to keep the weight from returning..we need to exercise. Keeping the calories low only work for the short term. What will you do, keep lowering the calories to get more weight off. I don't think so. At some point you'll need to eat to satisfy your hunger, when you do, this is when you need to exercise to use those calories or guess what? Yep, the weight will return. So, please start an exercise program along with the reduction of your calories, if you are an overeater. Not sure what exercises to do, no problem. Videos, Online Coaching, Website Videos are all options. Now, start exercising! Don't just sit there!:cheers2:

I have been doing the firm workouts for about 2 years now and really enjoy them. I use them for the strength portion of my exercise regime. But I agree with Blancita, EVERYTHING works if you are consistent... its finding that one thing you enjoy and can stick to that is important. I would say that the Firm workouts have for sure helped in my weight loss journey, but consistency is what allows me to continue to lose weight.

I would also like to say that these workouts are tough for a beginner, I was in decent shape when I first started doing them and could hardly make it through 1/2 a workout without dying. Now 2 years later they still kick my ass, but I have increased the amount of weight I use and I rock out the whole way through. If you are interested in getting a good overall strength workout from home I recommend it.
