The fat girls guide to saying No!, and the skinny girls guide to saying Yes!

Hey!

I start with a bit of a introduction though I’m sure that you will get to know me while you take this wonder-ous journey with me, so um Hi *waves* I’m Nessy and I’m 23. I’ve got a desk job which is stressful and bloo*y boring at the same time.

I’ve always been the chubby fat girl and it has only been since I hit the age of 18 that I started the delightful time of dieting, I guess that’s the time I started wanting to investigate boys. I managed once to get to a happy size 16, I managed it by spending the summer holiday before I started Uni with a anorexic girl and all I did was walk all day and eat grapes every so often so it really is no wonder that now I’m 23 and a size 26!

I guess it comes to the point of why now, well I’ve had enough, today I’ve spent the whole day mopping (which I think is the appropriate word) because I feel so depressed about my weight I even just randomly cry, the worst thing is I still eat the junk food even though I feel this way. On the 12th of this month it was mine and M’s 4th year anniversary and instead of spending the whole night in bed *cough* I managed to have a full breakdown and now I wont even let him near me and its so depressing.

So um yeah it’s finally time to get on with my life and start living. I have round 9 stone to lose, so I hope you will join me for this journey and stay through the thick and thin, I’m certain it will be worth it for the laughs and the insanity.

Hugs For Now

Nessy xx

P.S added this little questionnaire thing :| oh and my fav colour is Green!

1. What is your current height and weight?
263 pounds (18 stone and 11 pounds) 5 6’ in height

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
It wouldn’t be a weight it would be when I’m happy with what I see in the mirror and where id feel comfortable, I’ve never been a small size so would like to size a UK 12/14!

3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
That would take me to the end of Feb which is around 18 weeks so realistically id like to lose 2 or more pounds a week so around 36 pounds so id be 229pounds (16 stone 5 pounds)

4. Why do you want to lose weight?
So that I can feel myself again, so I don’t feel like everyone is watching me when I’m out and to feel HAPPY again and not depressed by my weight

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
I’d love to be able to wear a lovely little number for my and my bf’s 5th anniversary on October 12th next year!

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
FOOD!!!

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Poor self - esteem.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
I’ve sadly got into the mindset that I have to eat everything in front of me even when I’m full, so smaller portions will help. I’d also really like to start eating more fruit and veg on a daily basis and start exercising regularly.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
I lost weight once and got to a lovely happy size 16 though it was by walking all day and eating just grapes, yep not the best diet guess why I put the weight back on and more! I’ve also tried WW millions of times and lost the first and second week then lost motivations, I even tried the Cambridge diet twice and both times it messed up my system and even had a trip to the A&E the second time!!!

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I think the answer your looking for is there has always been something in the back of my head which has made me, a voice saying your fat, your ugly, your worth nothing and it makes me overreact and I just eat everything even if I don’t want to, I just cant stop.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I’ve signed up at weightlossresources.com and will be writing on my diary here what I eat on a daily basis

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
I’m trying to teach myself to cook, though at the moment my culinary skills go as far as calling the Chinese up

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
I get a lot of takeaway and by a lot I mean allot!!

15. What are your three favorite foods?
pasta’s
cheese
Fish and chips

16. What are your three favorite restaurants?
Fish and chips
Chinese
indian

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Eat more fruit and veg, cut out the junk, eat more healthily in the way of fruit and veg

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I’d feel invincible, id be happy again and not depressed and id finally have the courage to do everything I’ve left “till I get skinny” basically I think I would start living life!!

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes all the time

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
Sadly yes!

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
Yes

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
Yes

23. Do you eat as a reward?
Yes

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Yes

25. What do you normally eat for a meal?
A normal meal will be something I’ve flung together alfresco style, which is normally random items in the freezer or a Chinese, or my mum would cook something and that’s a death trap in itself!

26. What type of snacks do you eat?
I love chocolate, crisps and chewy sweets

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
I’d like to think I’m good at this one, every so often I will cycle home which is around 11 miles, which I’m wanting to start doing every day and then id like to cycle in to work too.

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym?
I’d like to join a gym does that count?

29. What, if anything, are your three favourite types of exercise?
Cycling, swimming, walking

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
My daily goals is to see the bigger picture and stick to a diet/lifestyle plan, my monthly goals are to start seeing food in a different way and start seeing that I can make the lifestyle changes I want to and my yearly goal would be to see myself hopefully around 9 stone ish down!

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals?
I’ve decided to help myself along and stop treating myself with food as it turns into a never ending cycle, I’m wanting to treat myself to clothing and once I’m skinny enough id love to treat myself to a matching set of underwear. A cute set!! And once I’m at my goal weight I’m going to go to London shopping and going to get myself some agent provocateur underwear as I’ve always loved their stuff! I’m sure M would too lol.

I've recently just lost the weight you intend to. It's not easy, but it is rewarding.

keep at it and you'll get there.

It's about a lifestyle change rather than a diet change.

Hi Cantona,

The website im using to measure all my calories weightlossresources.com has worked out my calorie intake already for me.

Is there another way to work it out?

Thanks Nessy x

That Url doesn't seem to exist.

But go on this one too, it'll tell you what you need in order to lose weight rather than maintain:

As a general rule of thumb (commonly known I assumed) a woman needs roughly 2000 calories per day and a man needs 2500.

Hope this is of some help.

Hey Cantona,

Sorry its weightlossresources.co.uk, the reason it is so high is because i went for the Moderately Active section as i cycle around 11 miles a day 5 days a week and i also walk my dog for around a hour, have moved that down now to Moderately Sedentary and my calories have moved to 1920.

I did try that website you sent me (Thank you!!!) and it states "If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 2182.4 calories per day" So hopefully im on the right track, i just dont have a clue!

Thanks Nessy

OK, I didn't read you were doing that much exercise. Well done by the way.

Hope it works out for you. If it doesn't you know you just need to cut the calories down a little.

Hey! Welcome. I had the same issue as you. I felt very unattractive and our significant others still think we are attractive, but if we dont feel it....the sexy wont come out lol. There is no confidence. BUT what you are doing is a great step. I am on a program and I log things in my diary on this site. I love it. There is support, confidence boosts and great tips. From reading your posts a good one I can suggest is try your best to eat breakfast. It keeps that metabolism kicking. And drink as much water as you can. :)
good luck!!! you can do it!
