The dreaded cardio...

ok so idk if im the only one who feels this way but i dread doing my cardio every day. i do 25-30 minutes a day but its never enjoyable. i was wondering if you guys maybe knew of some more ways to get the benefits of cardio. currently i use the eliptical, bike, and am planning on beginning running on the track for interval training. on the flip side i love weight training. is there any way tp incorporate cardio into weight training so that i might be able to enjoy it more? any suggestions are appreciated.

I usually don't enjoy cardio when im running at the gym. I enjoy it a lot more when i'm outside running on a scenic route, listening to great music. I focus on what's around me rather than running and it makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Well, one option is to keep experimenting with different forms of cardio. Outdoor cycling is another option rather than staying on the stationary bike. You could also try swimming.

Another thing you could try is interval training in the weight room. Have a circuit planned out, do an exercise for, say, 30 seconds to a minute, rest for the same amount of time, and then move on to the next exercise. This will keep your heart rate up and definitely improve your cardiovascular abilities.

ive been really into the idea of circuit training but im unsure if my understanding of it is correct. i do circuit strength training every day and i alternate between front and back muscle groups on a daily basis so i never over stress my muscles by doing the same group 2 days in a row. i do 2 15 minute sessions of cardio, 1 before my first circuit and 1 before my second. ive been told if i were to throw in things like squats and lunges it would increase the cardiovascular benefit but wouldnt the time it takes to transition from one weight machine to the other ruin whatever cardiovascular effect it had in the first place? i would love to be able to fit my cardio into my circuit entirely and not have to dread running on a track or using the eliptical but im just unsure how to do so, and i wouldnt want to sacrifice potential results if running would really be the more effective of the two.

Low intensity weight training circuits without rests are still cardio. By definition there is no way the body will keep going for 20 minutes or more without it being fueled by the aerobic energy system, thus cardiovascular exercise. If your heart rate is continuously elevated for a long duration that makes it cardio, if you enjoy wieghts make your cardio from a weight training circuit, an example below.

1 minute at a time, no rests between sets, so fast changes, weights are low enough to keep going but high enough to feel what you are doing. Intensity can be increased via speed if totally familiar with the movements giving more reps, weight or extending time per set or overall duration.
Keep going until you have hit target time, at least 20 minutes.

Bent over row
Push ups
Squats
Elbow to knee (variation of sit ups)
Highpulls
Push press
Lunges
Elbow to knee (standing)

Try that for a bit of variation. Obviously mix it up a bit by replacing with alternatives, but dont mess up the balance.
