Hey my name is Kaitee and I just joined this site, Here's a little bit about my situation; I recently had my first child ( 2 months ago) and I'm 21 years old. I gained 70 pounds with this pregnancy , starting at about 140 pounds and ending at 210. I had started gaining weight before i even became pregnant though because i used to be much much smaller. During my pregnancy i was very inactive and i ate fast food all the time, i figured i could because i was pregnant( which i fully regret now) And since the pregnancy i have only lost 10 pounds, i try to get out for walks as much as possible but i am just so tired all the time because my baby is always crying and never sleeps through the night. I have no time or energy to cook healthy meals so i always just resort to fast food, but i will go for the things on the low fat menu. We are very strapped for cash and i am just so disgusted with myself i try to avoid the mirror at all costs. I used to be extremely confident but now it is at an all time low and i feel like its affecting my abilities as a parent because i am just sad all the time. I would really appreciate some advice, or if anyone can relate just some understanding.

You can save yourself a lot of cooking time, if you cook just a few times a week and leave stuff packaged and ready to go in the fridge so you don't have to resort to fast food -you'll save yourself some money too...

welcome to the site and much success on your journey.

Do some reading of the stickied threads on this site and do ask any questions you might have...

hey there girly !!!

and welcome to the weight loss forums.

So what are your initial plans and ideas on how your going to shed the pounds?

Well i do try to get out for a long walk everyday but sometimes other things get in the way, another main factor is that my fiance is a really picky eater who refuses to eat vegetables and his diet always has consisted mainly of fast food and he's not willing to change that. It is just kinda pointless to make a mess of all the pots and pans when i'm just cooking for myself because i havent got the time for dishes. What about microwaveable michelinas meals and things like that? Does anybody know if they would be any good health-wise?

Well, the drawback to those microwavable meals is the amount of sodium in them, but, I've found that the lean cuisines are really good and very reasonable with calories. Just drink alot of water so you don't get salt bloat.
There are things you can eat instead of fast food that is still "fast" although a little assembly is required. Do you have a library? If so look for cookbooks for dieters or for recipes online. I'm trying to lose horrendous baby weight too that I've kept on for several years. I can't wait to be back to myself again. Good luck and I hope to chat with you more!

Thank you so much, I know it's superficial but how i look effects every aspect of my life and it's on my mind constantly. I think the support i will gain from this site will be extremely helpful and motivating. I know i can do it I just need that will power.

My partner HATES vegetables also, but luckily he works most of the day so i don't have to change my meals cause of him.

Have you heard of the new healthy choice steamed meals?

I think there are some really yummy ones, and the sauce is separate so you get to decide how much of it you'd like to put on.

So do you always eat at the same time as your fioncee? If he enjoys fast food you could try make something similar at home but make it a bit better, for example baking some home-made fries in olive oil with lean beef burgers in wheat buns? This way they are small changes but would be better for both of you.

Try also keeping some vegetables in the fridge, like baby carrots. these are AWESOME to snack on i find.

I agree with the foil post !!! Simply lining a baking tray with foil each time, makes life so much easier and saves time scrubbing for minutes !

I agree with kaplooie a lot of the microwave stuff is high in sodium but if you drink lots of water and keep an eye on the labels for sodium content you'll be fine. I eat South Beach or Smart Choices microwavable dinners when I don't have a chance to cook. I also try to eat healthier when I must eat fast food for example if I go to subway I eat a salad instead of a sandwich or get a grilled chicken sandwich instead of a burger. Just keep in mind that diet is a big part of weight loss but so is exercise. Good luck with your weight loss and I hope to see more posts from you soon.

Yesterday was my first time weighing myself since the week i got home from the hospital and i found out im down to 189 so thats a little bit better than what i originally thought, still got a long way to go though
