I'm far from a sleep expert, so I'm not sure how much ' helpful ' advice I can really provide.:)

I'm just running out of the house for an afternoon speaking engagement, so I'll try and touch base and respond to your post later this evening if I can.

i thought u knew something about sleep being that u had asked me what kind of sleep issues i was having. thanks anyways...LOL!

Thanks Lillian! I am going to try and get up to my brother's house this weekend to check in on the new baby again...plus to see my 16 month old niece as well. :jump1:

Thank you for the kind words, Jackie.

I admit I have this fetish when it comes to keeping my blood sugar as stable as feasibly possible, and only increasing it at times when I need it the most, and refined white sugar (not to mention its history) just doesnt fit into the equation quite right; I can get the necessary--"sugars"--through other more healthy alternatives. This small piece of the pie when considering the other small pieces of the pie together, make the circumference of the pie as a whole all that much better, IMO.

Learning about blood sugar within the human body, and about refined white sugar was one of the first things I learned when I began to lose weight early in my goal march, and I just dont have a craving for sweet items as much as I used to, though I absolutely know that having something with sugar in the diet once in a while isnt goanna kill someone, LOL........YES ME! Oh, just kidding :)

Man, it has been one busy......motha.....the last couple of days.....

My left shoulder has been bothering me the last few days, and I went to the doc with my training and diet history (oh.....the joy of having this history!).........any hoot, nothing serious its a bit inflammed. She wants me to lay off for a few days, and add in some "rear delt" work and some other stretching techniques. She thinks (at the present) I have an imbalance, and I tend to agree with her. I am going to add in some light rear delt flys to my shoulder work when I start back in a few days.

I dont have trouble laying off the weights for a few days. Unlike most, I KNOW that the body isnt going to "suddenly" retreat to being weaker in a matter of a few days (with my history)--it doesnt happen that quickly. I will adjust with adding in some cardio (circuit intervals), maintain my direct core training, and perform some stretching, until she gives me the go ahead.

How are you Jackie!

KEEP ROCKEN!

I really appreciate you asking about my personal goals, RWS (Refined Wisdom and Spirit). :)

I had a lot of server problems at work to deal with the last few days, and I helped my son move to his new apartment complex, and we attended the KU/K-State game in Lawrence last night.....that was HELLA fun....he, he....:)

Just rocken and a rollen.....bring out the best this old man can offer nearing 50 baby! It still has alot to offer me! :) No excuses, its "appropriate" balls to to the walls!............Oh.......I have to take a break.....he, he. ooops! :(

I am a few percentage points away from my personal goal of 7.9% (8.2), the tissue loss has been slow but methodical and deliberate. I have been holding steady at 161 during my fat loss, until just recently, where I dropped about 1 total pound from my "goal" maintain weight of 161.

I recently injured my left shoulder and went to see my Doc on Friday. She is also a fitness trainer and a nutritionist. My left rotator cuff is inflamed and irritated (common injury no big deal). She wants me to lay off the weights for a few days :(, and I plan to do just that. I brought my training and diet history with me, and she recommended some minor changes: Some new stretching techniques, static holds, adding very light rear delts work,(I am going to do some rear/reverse fly's), and a few other things.

So I am taking "at least one week off" (and play it by ear), and then add in her recommendations. I am going to to eat at MT, and add in a couple of days slightly over MT to aide in recovery.

I am knocking on the friggen door! YES! No hurry.....

How are you young man!

ROCK ON!

I hope your Sunday is fantastic! :)

Chillen,
How often do you reccomend steady state cardio be done on a weekly basis if someone is doing a FBW every other day and HIIT 1-2 times a week? I have been doing 30 minutes of cardio after my FBW sessions and trying to get into the gym on the off days for either HIIT or SS cardio.

hey chillen, yeah im good thanks, i bet you know a lot more than doctor about the body lol, its good to get things checked once in a while i suppose, i hope your shoulder is ok.

LOL! My Doc loves my attitude and persistence, but it gets her agitated too, lol. She is a close friend of ours, and called yesterday to verify I was....RELAXING from training, and I told her I was being good...LOL. ;)

My shoulder is okay, its just irritated (rotator cuff). This is actually my very first major injury since I began training (besides my left quad a few months back).

When I plan my routine in advance, I always plan for a 7 day complete lay off of all training anyway, and I was about 1 week out from this scheduled time off before the injury, and I will just take it a week in advance, and play it by ear then. I have a modified plan in place after the time off period.

Work has been taking some major chunks of time lately. We just started another business project and this has taken some time to organize and develop. I have been developing the marketing strategy and personnel programs for the new unit.

Hope things are good for you Jackie!

Best wishes,

Chillen

My boss acquired another hotel franchise, and I have the responsibility of setting up the servers and PC's at the new location, implementing the policy and procedures, changing out products and services, and this has taken alot of time the past week and a half. While in the process I have to screen new employees and interview the current ones. I have been extremely busy! LOL! Love it! :)

Yes, my attitude is liked at the businesses he owns. A matter of fact in the geographical area he operates in, we have the lowest turn over ratio in the business in a field where the turn over ratio on average is rather high.

What is the name of this new department. What will you be doing?

Hopefully by this weekend, I can get back to normal, lol. I have been working 12 to 14 hour days. I have been a good boy and have been listening to the doc and laying off the weights for a week, but I have been doing some cardio twice a day among the hours I have been working. I FEEL GREAT! Shoulder is improving.....

ROCK ON!

I feel terrible I havent been able to make posts to the COL, hopefully if I can get my responsibilities completed by this weekend, I can obtain the necessary time, and make things more regular next week........

YOU GUYS ROCK! TRAIN HARD........BE AT YOUR BEST! :)

I look forward to you telling me about it! I hope you like it, young lady! :)

Yep, 12 to 14 hours with plenty left in the personal tank. Thanks to diet and fitness training. When I work these many hours, and I have a scheduled training session, I let my mind and body tell me whether I should train or not. It's an HONEST assessment not one where I just bail out without some thought behind it.

The body is an extraordinary adaptive mechanic and will adapt and over come more than we think--even in less then opitimal conditions, in my opinion.

I dont fret over small things, I just live and do what I can, and dont make execuses. I make educated reasons that fit within the confinement of my goals.

Even with all the hours, my body was telling me it could train, so I did within the outlines set forth by doc (just performing interval cardio sessions, and stretching for now. The shoulder is feeling great, but it hasnt had any weight applied yet--this will be the testing factor). Truthfully, I am in excellent physical condition, and one or two weeks of backing off weight training isnt going to hurt one bit. In addition, it doesnt bother me I can't go weight train.

I am in a healing process my body needs--in order to respond in a manner I want, and I consider it part of the training/healing process that has beneficial factors. One doesnt mess around with the shoulders they are involved in "practically" all movenents in weight training, and care must be involved or it WILL impact "nearly" all your weight training, and this isnt something one wants. I think the injury was my fault anyway. After review, I believe I was executing improper form on an exercise, and paid the price. Now, I have to PAY the PIPER so-to-speak.

I think I got between 5 to 5 1/2 hours a sleep the last few days, lol. Its funny though I have gotten about 3 hours less sleep, I havent felt like it. Its been only a few days, I am sure as time passes, the stress could come more apparent, but for now, there is no significant difference in energy or how I feel.

There are so many benefits to health and fitness. What I am going through is an example. All of the appropriate stresses in diet and in fitness training, can "assist" the body to step up to the plate--when life's responsibilities demand more from you. When it does the body and the mind can be prepared for battle and serve one rather well.

My job right now, is to give my body (left shoulder) the tools to recover through diet and rest to allow it to step up to the plate when I call on it to react in the manner I desire. The same desire I give and demand for training, is the same in recovery......they go hand in hand, and one MUST realize.

ROCK ON!

A "mini" Frank Zane........BABY! YES!..........> ;)

You are the best Jackie!

Hope your day goes well, young lady. I will try to be on later, have to go set up wireless routers at the other business.......
