The Biggest Loser

I wasn't 100% sure where to post this and I realize I haven't posted in a really long time, but I have a question. How exactly do the people on The Biggest Loser lose so much weight in so little time? I joined the gym and started really dieting in October of last year. 7 months later, and I'm still fat. I really don't get what they do. Do they starve themselves? It's just really frustrating to see them lose so much in so little time when I'm still fat after going to the gym for 7 months. I really don't know what to do. Why does it take so long to come off for me, but for them, they lose like 15-20 lbs a week?

It is a combination of extreme diet and extreme exercise. It is not realistic and most do regain it. Do NOT use it as a measuring stick for your own successes :)

1) They're on severe calorie restrictions for one.
2) The men seem to start from 400 odd lbs.
3) A 'week' isn't 7 days in TVLand
4) They are dedicated to working out 8 hrs a day. That IS their day job.
5) The play games with hydration levels.
6) They (mostly) are losing muscle mass with the fat.
7) No doubt other factors too.

Lets remember that many (I'd LOVE to know figures) BL contestants put all the weight back on after the show.

I believe I've heard mentioned on the show their caloric intake is between 1200 and 1500. If you're eating that little, you're pretty much guaranteed of losing weight (and going crazy).

Yankee... How much do you weigh and how much are you trying to lose?
I own a gym and do a biggest loser competition at my gym 2 times a year. The people that participate have realistic results. My last winner in 12 weeks lost 30 lbs and 16 inches.

When they sign up I promote good eating habits and help them to choose the correct foods to eat. I also show them what to do in the gym, combo of 20-30 min a day of cardio and then weight training with free weights.

If I can help please let me know.
