The best way to do HIIT ?

Hi,
i recently started to get interested on HIIT, but the more read about it, the more i'm confused. It seems that everyone does it differently.
I'm talking more specifically about the duration of the intervals. Indeed, some people suggest that the best way to do HIIT is a series of: 30 sec at high intensity followed by a 30 sec at low intensity. But for others it's:
30 sec high/1 min low
40 sec high/20 sec low
1min high/1min low
2 min/5 min low !!!

There seems to be a consensus about how effective HIIT is, but isn't it amazing to see that no one agrees on how to do it.
So i guess my question is: What's the most effective way to do HIIT ? or Are they all equal?

you'll see this conflicting info on pretty much all nutritional topics. seems the "experts" cant agree on anything. thats one of the reasons i dislike "experts" so much ;)

go with what you can handle. christian finn who i admire recomends 15/30 sec intervals and thats what i do. but work your way into it. 15 sec hi followed by 30 to 45 low to recover before repeating is perfectly ok.

i never go more than 10 minutes total. thats why i like it so much. its fun and only 10 minutes of work will cranks up my metabolism for the rest of the day. no worries over heart rate monitors and fat burning zone. but IMO low intensity and HIIT work both have their place. :)
