Teaching To Breathe While Exercising

HowZit Gang!

Would like to read comments from personal trainers on their way of teaching individuals the proper breathing process during exercises involving the three basic components of physical fitness:
Endurance Exercises
Stretching Exercises
Strength Training Exercises

Your feedback is very helpful and appreciated.

Aloha for now!

For endurance, just let breathing happen on its own. If the person has asthma, focus on breathing through the nose (which will generally result in decreased speed, but will also decrease the risks of an asthma attack).

For stretching, take deep breaths in, hold, and exhale. As the stretch-strength reflex decreases, you'll be able to deepen the stretch slightly as you exhale.

For strength training, valsalva maneauvre is good provided you have no cardiovascular conditions. If you have hypertension or any CV conditions, follow standard procedure of breathing in on the eccentric, and out on the concentric.

Since I started in fitness, I was taught - exhale on the exertion portion of lifting. However, I just attended a conference last weekend where the guy said that "new" scientific studies show that for heavy lifting, you should inhale during the lifting stage because it stabilizes the spine. He used the example of a fully inflated stability ball -- if you try to do a pushup on it, you probably could. However, if you took the pin out of it, and continued to try to do pushups, it would get more difficult as the ball deflates.

Just something new to think about....

HowZit & Thanks for your feedback.
Have another question regarding "breathing"

When "breathing" is the "exerciser's" physical-posture important when performing their specific exercises for endurance, stretching and resistance?
Please explain your response.

Again, appreciate your feedback!
