taking multivitamins.. no vegetables??

Is there much use in consuming alot of vegetables if Im already taking multivitamins? I hate vegetables, they seem more like empty calories to me if im already 100% with vitamins

dude, vitamins in no way replace vegetables - dont kid yourself. there are thousands of nutrients in veggies, but only a handful in the pills. also vitamin pills for the most part nourish your toilet, only a fraction is absorbed by your body. do yourself a favor and toss the vitamins & start eating veggies or you'll pay a heavy price for it when you get older.

well how much vegetables??? Is a celery stick and a handful of lettuce ok? Hell, after eating 60 grams of turkey, a protein shake, apples, I dont feel like eating a tomato, a full salad, onions, and all that crap. Is just a little ok? Im working out to get trim, not look like Swarzenegger

I wouldn't say toss the vitamins. Even the AMA (American Medical Assciation) recommends everyone take a multi. It's the first thing I usually recommend to someone trying to improve their nutrition.

You will absorb the whole food nutrients in the vegetables much better, though, it's true.

you might wanna research this a bit wangho, lot's info on the net about balanced diets. a celery stick and a handful of lettuce has nothing in it but some water, so no that wouldnt be a good choice. salads and steamed veggies of a large variety is your best bet. i eat a ton veggies and salads in addition to other foods, and at 6' tall weigh 145lbs, with very little body fat, so i wouldnt worry about vegetables making you look like arnold s. shakes and all that are fine (i use them myself) but you need to balance your diet with veggies, too. look into this, you'll see research backs up the strong need for lot's of grains and veggies in your diet. if you've got the willpower to work out - something a lot of people dont - than adding something important your body needs shouldnt be all that hard. gotta make some sacrifices. :)

i hear this quite a bit from a friend of mine who just started lifting. i tell him not to worry...hes not going to go from 6' 150 to 6' 225 overnight.

dont have limiting thoughts when it comes to motives. if you want to gain size, tell yourself that you want to gain size. the gains will come slowly. you arent going to wake up one day 25 pounds heavier. when you are satisfied, you can stop trying to gain mass (although, if you are like me you wont be. i started at 150 and wanted to be 165. once i was 165 i wanted to be 175, when i was 175, i wanted to be 185, now at 190, im shooting for 200 by next year).

I always laugh too. Why do people assume they'll be able to get big overnight when lots of people spend years of their life trying to perfect growing larger?

no no, you guys are reading me wrong. First off, Im still trying to determine if most of you here are serious weight trainers, etc. that have a Weider philosophy. Ive been working out long enough to know what it would take get that kind of mass..

Im simply saying that Im looking to be very svelte with muscle. A Bruce Lee or Brad Pitt kind of physique. I don't like bulk at all..

Since you mentioned him, I took some time to look up Bruce Lee's training regimen, and came across this:

Pretty interesting read, and if you're a fan, I suggest you take a look.
