Taking care of business

Hi! Just happened on this site by accident or fate, not sure. I am embarking on a new weight loss program this week. I am sick and tired of being the largest person at every gathering I go to. I am self-employed working at home and the refrigerator is always there, like a friend. I guess what Tony Robbins and other motivational speakers say is true. When the pain outweighs (no pun intended) the pleasure, you will take action. I have even considered lap band surgery as a last resort.
I have just finished a 6 week cooking school to learn how to do all the things I should have learned from my mother, but alas I only learned how to cook Italian pasta and meatloaf and potatoes from her. So I am looking at getting some good recipes for dinners in the 400-600 calorie range. I am not fond of fish and that probably is one of the reasons I am so overweight. Anyone willing to give up a recipe or two?

Check out the nutrition and recipes sections.

Some people list what food they have each day in their diaries so you may get some ideas from there too. If anyone mentions a meal that sounds good you could always ask them how to make it.

It is often a good idea to have lots of fruit and vegetables. I have tons.

Stir frys can be good. I get a spray called "fry light" but I know that a similar product is available in other countries. It really cuts the calories associated with frying food.

I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the board....pastas and breads and all that type of food seemed like the only think i have eaten for so long....and it surely has caught up with me....I hope you find somegreat recipes...Good Luck on your weight loss journey!:hurray:
