Taking Back What I Never Had.

Hey everyone, my name is Larry and I live in Dallas, Texas. I am 22 years old and my whole life I have been overweight. May 10, 2007 weighing in at 280lbs I decided I needed a change in my life. For the past 2 months I worked out everyday hitting the gym 5-6 days a week to improve my looks and selfesteem. Now Sept. 17, 2007 I weigh in at 246, but along this journey I have lost sight of my goal of 185 lbs. The past month I have only been hitting the gym maybe twice a week and I have just thrown my diet out of the window. I feel myself almost settling into my old ways, so I decided to look for some support. I want to stay that, I can not believe I just stumbled onto this forum with some many people helping each other fight our nations top killer today. I hope that I become a true asset to this forum not only for support in my life, but in so many others as well.

Hey there Larry,

welcome to the WLF. Congrats on the weight loss so far. :) The great thing about this site is the amazing amount of information you can learn just by reading stickied threads as well as diaries/ food journals. As for losing sight... you have to look at it this way: You've lost 34 lb so far, correct? (Which is fantastic on your part. :)) Now you busted your bum off to do so. Are you going to waste all that time sweating it out at the gym to let it go down the drain? I think not, homeboy. :D Keep pushing yourself to get to your goal weight. You deserve it, damnitt. HA! Wishing you all the best.

Congrats on the loss so far!! Perception is everything. If you mentally lose site of the 'whys' you're more likely to fall off the wagon.

Why were you losing weight? What do you want to get out of it? How will it change your life? Is it worth it to exert effort every single day? Etc, etc.

I think a lot of people become complacent when they've realized some success. Their happiness overwhelms their ultimate goals and desires and focus/momentum is lost.

In a nut shell, don't lose sight of it all.
