Hi all
so i have hit a plateau and my body can't seem to lose anymore weight. Before, i lost weight running two miles a day, not a lot but i did lose some. So I have decided to Billy Blanks Tae Bo tapes/dvds. My question is which one to use for my situation: I'm 158, male, 14, and really flabby on my stomach, sides, and hips. So I was wondering which specific tape I should do. And I have only 5lb dumbells (2). Would that be enough? I can't afford to buy a resistance band or more weights. However, i Do have one 10 lb dumbell. Thank you!

Diet

Well Matt,
I don't have much control over what groceries are bought so it sucks. My breakfast is usually a piece of rye bread toast with VERY little jam or jelly and a slice of whole grain bread with peanut butter (little) but i will try to cut that out. i also have chai tea with 2% reduced fat whole milk.

lunch for school - peanut butter and jelly sandwich with goldfish and a fruit and water bottle. (whole grain bread by the way)

after school - now a days i eat oatmeal with a cup of 2% reduced fat oatmeal.

dinner- this is what sucks. i'm indian and i hear indian foods are fatty and oily but idk. i ask my mom if she puts alot of oil in and she says i put in as little oil when its needed. so idk what to do for dinner. i also have chicken for dinner 1-2x per week.

heya, i used to do taebo back in the day and i think it's great for working out...unfortunately i can't remember the specific dvd and recently when i checked online there were like sooo many, maybe depending on your level or activity try to gauge if you are beginner, intermediate or advanced because i think thats how they are usually categorised.

i now do combat at the gym (which is basically taebo) and it's my fav class because its fully of lots of punching and kicking so it makes it enjoyable...at least for me anyway. k, hope you manage to find something suitable. all the best xoxo

Diet is going to be more important than exercise in losing weight ... but exercise is important in shaping and "toning" muscles ... so both are necessary.

Since you have little control of your dinners, I'd say start taking control of breakfast and lunch more. Ditch the pb sandwiches, the goldfish, the toast - it looks like right now you're eating 4+ pieces of bread a day, plus the goldfish, plus jam ...!

Really load your days with veg and fruit and maybe 1 or 2 slices of whole grain bread total. A piece of toast with a serving of pb isn't bad - but not pb twice a day or more. Add more low fat dairy in there for the protein - yogurt, cottage cheese, skim or 2% milk, that kind of thing.

Basically control what you can and make sure that it's the healthiest possible so that you have some leeway when it comes to dinner at night.
