Tae-Bo..Belly dancing

I'd be interested as well. But I'd like to also include spinning and kickboxing!

Any Michiganders that can recommend a place in the metro Detroit area would be helful as well.

i bought a belly dancing dvd but havnt started yet as i need to buy a full length mirror, but would be good if we could get a belly dancing thread going?

I do both.

At first, I only did Tae Bo, but then I bought a bellydancing DVD on a whim, because it looked like fun. I do about 30-50 mins depending on which routine I'm working out too, 6 days week. However, since I'm not near the end of my weight loss goal, I can only tell you that I've seen some results. I've lost weight, and my flexibilty and endurance is much better. I also do some light weight lifting/strengthing.

I hope that helps.

I purchased a few DVDs - most recently (best beginner/tutorials, 2+ hours worth), Bellydance: East Coast Tribal () and Heartbeat of Bellydance (). These are mostly instructional so I don't think the workout/exercise benefits will be great - in comparison to something like cardio or strength training. But it helps break the routine, for fun/light days.

With bellydancing, so far, I can feel it work my abs (just from the posture) and upper thighs/legs.

The only problem is that I'm getting into more fun/light workouts and days :) Planning on giving this routine/rotation a shot for the next month - where I mix bellydancing with DDR, and nothing much else.

I haven't tried Taebo, but I used to do quite a bit of kickboxing. Since it gets the heart rate up, it is definitely a great workout and does give great results. I was addicted to all the Janis Saffell stuff.

Tae-Boe

I bought the entire set of Billy Banks Tae-Boe:cool: . I did two videos and it really gives you a work-out. Trust me, it works you just have to keep at it (and no cheating!). Definitely use the resistence cords, however you can try it once through without it to get use to the routine.

Belly Dancing? Well, my best friend/roomate does it, and it kinda worked. Her stomach got flatter however it seems the belly dancing just pushed all the fat down to her thighs and buttocks.. (haha). So, in a way did work, and on the other hand.... it didn't, it just allocated the fat to a different location.

Let me know how it goes!

i feel the bands are kinda hard to use, but you think it really works? well, i know it would work if i stuck with it, but wrap the bands around and all...i guess i just need to get used to it. i'm glad it's working for you!

i haven't really stuck to any belly dancing, but i love regular dance cardio videos. i love to dance, so i can really step 'em up and get a great work out.

good luck everybody!

belly dancing yes!

personally, i can vouch for belly dancing, especially in wanting to trim the tummy. not only does it help in weight loss but it helps heighten your sensuality and sense of rythm.

I don't know anything about belly dancing, but I've done Tae-Bo off and on (more off than on!) for about 8 years. There are a bunch of different routines and workouts to try.

By far, the best shape I've ever been in was when I was doing three Advanced TB workouts a week.

I'm reviving this thread in attempt to lure bellydancers to me....

I've been dancing (classes) for abouyt a month and love everything about it! It does not make up the bulk of my exercise, but it certainly supplements it... and all those jingly sparkly things!

Closest I ever got to feeling like a princess (Okay, maybe a middle eastern emperor's daughter...)

Anyway, please post here if you do dance or if you wanna or if you do any other kind of dance.... (Yep, the bug has bit me I fear!)
