Life insurance companies must charge people who are overweight higher premiums because of the growing prevalence of obesity and its impact on health, one of the world's top reinsurers, Swiss Re, said.

... i think it's going to take these kinds of measures to knock some sense into some people about being overweight. Of course the issue above has many controversies about it, but it's a step in a much needed direction, in my opinion.

well if you are a smoker you are in a higher riskgroup and same is for people that are obese.
It's proven, there is not much more to say.
