SweatPea is going to sweat it all off...

--------------------

I just got done with the treadmill.....2.12 miles in 30 min! That is up 4 tenths of a mile from the last time I jumped on (2.08 miles.)

2.12 miles in 30 min is practically jogging!! I think I do 2 miles in 26-27 min but I run like 3-4 min and then walk for 1-2 min.
Wow, I have to log on more often and came and read your diary for inspiration!! You are doing so well!!
I am part of the V-day challenge and my weigh-in is tomorrow. I think it will be a good one but I am still not back to my Dec. weight. Sigh... Amazing it only took me 10 days to gain it, now it seems it will take me a good 3 weeks to lose it. That should knock some sense in me!! :banghead:
Have a great day!!!

If your kid is Happy Meal age, the apple slices you can sub for the fries are actually really good (and high in calcium, because of the anti-browning stuff). I normally won't eat prepackaged cut fruit like that, but theirs are delicious - crispy and fresh and sweet.

Hi Allyphoe,

Well my kid doesn't eat fries all that often, so I let him have them when he gets McDs. I know they have other options, but once in a great while, it doesn't hurt.

Keep up the good work, Pea! Remember . . baby steps, that it won't happen over night. If you like the treadmill and it works for you, keep with it. Continue to add minutes, miles, intensity, etc. You will see the change and reap the benefits before too long!

Can't say I like it all that much, but I know it's good for me! :D

:driving:

Hehehe, I like that little guy. :D

Today was definitely better at school. Everyone was there that needed to be and it runs so much better. I think the other reason I was tired was because I had to run ds to the ortho after work (he had a wire that had come loose and needed fixed before his next appt.) We had to go to a different place that is about 45 min. from my house. But luckily it is only about 25 min. from where I work. However, it made for a very long day.

Today was cook day at school - the lead teacher and a few of the kids cook everyone lunch (in our class.) Well the kids had decided last week (with the teacher's help) to make potato soup and grilled cheese.

It was a potato-bacon-corn "chowder" though it wasn't very thick, so it was more like soup. Which was probably better than chowder (calorie wise.) But it was delish! Then, we had a grilled cheese sandwich - yum. And a mixture of frozen strawberries mashed with pineapple and chopped banana added. Double yum!

I didn't over eat, but just not sure how many cals were there. But I had one bowl of the soup (though I could've had more), one sandwich, and one small scoop of the fruit.

The rest of the day was:
B: bran flakes w/ soy milk
S: small yogurt (lite & fit only 45 cals.)
L: read above
D: peanut butter w/ sf jam sandwich and clementine (cause I forgot it was cook-day and that was what I packed for lunch.)

I did a 30 min. circuit training vid, that really kicked my butt! I noticed they had a bonus exercise part, so I looked at it. And it was 15 min. extra, I was going to give it a try, but was way down on energy after just getting a butt kicking. But it's something to try for another day. Maybe I'll add it on a day I do the ball video? I dunno.

I feel great!!

I did step on the scale and am down another 1/2 pound. I need this trend to keep up.

Congrats on your loss on the scale!

That chowder sounds delicious! Kudos on having only 1 bowl! Sounds like you did good the rest of the day.

Keep it up!

Way to go on the 1/2 pound down!!!
Man that chowder sounds so yummy! Good thing I wasn't there 'cuz I would have definately had more than one bowl!!!
Great Job!

Congrats on the 1/2 lb down!!!
The chowder sure sounded delicious. I try to stay away from foods where I have no exact calorie count because then I don't know how I did for the day... I am neurotic like that.. LOL
I am into the shakes again: 1/2 c. ff milk, 1/2 c. ice-water, 1 ff dannon yogurt, 1 c. frozen fruit and some sweatener. All in a blender it makes like a 2-3 c worth shake, absolutely delicious and I feel like I am cheating... and only 165 calories.

Keep up the good work!!

Hi Haj, Bell, and IWBT! :waving:

Yesterday I had more of the soup - again kept it to one bowl, because I was having a dinner that I didn't know what it was going to consist of. I'm pretty sure my calorie totals were close to 1800 or more. I didn't do too bad, but then again, I didn't do great.

B: mini wheat bagel w/ peanut butter, coffee w/ creamer
L: Potato corn chowder, clementine
D: about 1/4 of chicken cordon bleu (homemade), baked potato w/ butter, wheat roll w/ butter, some salad type stuff (a little of broccoli cheese salad and a little of a ramen noodle slaw salad.) And a piece of lemon meringue pie, it was delish!

I didn't exercise because I got home at 8:45 pm and thought that it was too late to get so energized since I go to bed around 10 pm. And, I'm glad I didn't, because it was hard to get to sleep anyway, then my youngest ds (who is 11) come in and says, "I can't get to sleep." I replied back, "neither can I now go get back in bed."

Mean I know, but he is 11 and nothing was wrong.

Today was better as far as food and exercise.

B: mini bagel w/ a little smudge of cream cheese and sf orange marmalade (mmm!), coffee w/ creamer
L: 1 piece of leftover frozen totinos pizza, green beans, and an apple
D: beef hotdog w/ bun, a little bit of chili on it with a sprinkle of cheese, salad w/ dressing and a little cheese
S: mini m&m's and a reese cup (darn hubby brought them in tonight from his office visit in Indy.)

Exercise: I got on the elliptical and did 33 min., 4354 strides, covered 2.7 mi., and burned 339.8 cals.

Have a great weekend!

Hajni, I know what you mean about trying to stay away from goods you can't tell the calorie counts on. I just guesstimated and kept the portion size reasonable. It must not have been too bad as my weight is the same. :)

I used to make shakes like that all of the time, I should do it again. I loved them too!

I was pretty much jogging the whole time. :D Just some of the time was faster than the other times. LOL

I know just what you mean about gaining and losing weight. I never understand how that works - takes you so little time and effort to gain, but it's soooooo hard to lose!!!

I finally get time to come by and check in on you, looks like your doing a great job since your scale is moving down in the right direction. I'm impressed with your motivation to work out and jog, some days I really have to force myself to the gym, but after I'm there, I'm so happy I went. If I could jog around home I would, but it's mainly dirt roads and not much for pavement, I would probably twist my ankle or something. LOL LOL

I'm proud of you progress so far, keep up the momentum girlie and you will be down another few pounds in no time!!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
Kim

Thanks Kim. I am lucky enough to have a treadmill and elliptical at home. I also have a total trainer (like the total gym, but more options.) I don't use that much anymore, but I can if I want too. When we invested in our treadmill and elliptical we did our research and wanted something that would last and work like we wanted it to. We didn't get "top of the line", but we did buy from fitness stores this time around. So our equipment is pretty good - and my drive to the Y would take more effort than just going downstairs.

I do miss working out with people, but the new vids I got - those gals are quite the crew. LOL

Oh and I always have to force myself to actually get started working out, but once I start "it's on!" :D

I'm a little bummed this morning as I got on the scale and it's actually up a pound (my ticker is correct atm.)

I'm pretty sure it was salt and lack of drinking water. I had a hotdog, chili, and pizza - all salty, salty foods.

I woke up this morning with a pretty dry mouth.

But, I have drank one glass of water (12 oz. tumbler) and on my 2nd glass now. I have a busy day today with errands and grocery shopping - plus a little shopping with dh. But I will workout later tonight on the ball with my new Denise Austin vid. I'll report back how it goes.

Have a great weekend!

Hi SweatPea!!
Seems like we are on the same track again...LOL I actually have 1.6 lbs gain in 2 days which I know is impossible with the amount of calories I consumed and exercise I did. So it is just water and the salty foods. The trainer in the gym told me if you have a "high salt" day, the next day focus on protein , very small amount of carbs and drink as much as you can and it will flush it out. So I am trying that approach today, let you know if it worked or not.

Just remember this "gain" is momentarily, and will be gone in no time!! Keep on going, you are doing awesome!!
Hajni

Good advice Hajni. Next time I'll have to adhere to it.

Because today was not a good food day like I wanted it to be. It was my own fault. We went shopping and I suggested Mexican food. There is a new restaurant and it is so delish there! I had read reviews about it and took a friend there when I went Christmas shopping. So today I took the family there.

I tried their sampler platter just to see if all the food was good or if I had just gotten lucky with the dish I got last time. Nope it's all good! The good thing for me is that I only ate 1/2 of the stuff, brought the other 1/2 home, and ds ate the rest.

I had a clemetine for "dinner". LOL

I have been drinking water almost all day, so at least that is one thing I did good with today.

I didn't exercise like I planned. I got home and needed to dust and clean things that don't get done during the week, no matter how much the family helps out there is always things that never get done. Plus for some reason going shopping with the family is always so draining. Not to mention, I just hate shopping anyway - even when it's supposed to be for fun stuff. Which was what today was. I got a new rug for our entryway. Of course the rug I picked out didn't have a tag, so we had to wait and wait and wait for someone to figure out the price. Anyway, good thing dh drives when we go out, because I slept most of the way home.

I need to figure out something. I had calculated my BMR and it comes up to over 4000 - which is supposed to be the number of cals you need if you just sat around and did nothing. I know that I never ever eat 4000 cals, so why don't I lose weight? Plus figure in the exercise I do and the fact that when I'm at school the only time I sit down is for lunch and rest time. I jsut can't figure that out. Hmmmm? Something to ponder. Unless of course I did something wrong, because I did do it with some "equation". LOL

OH forgot to add. This morning after I posted my weight, I stepped on the scale again right before my shower. And it showed 169.5. I was like "wow". So I tested it again, and it showed 170.5. I was like ok? So I did it one more time, then it was 170. Talk about weight fluctuations. :smilielol5:

I'm thinking when this scale goes out :smash:, I'm getting one that's more accurate with the calculations. Maybe I should have Bell's son come over and let him use my bathroom.

Whoops who put the scale right beside the toilet???? :sifone:

Your BMR can not be 4000 cals/ day. My BMR is 1720 cals at 5'4" and 145 lbs. What formula did you use to calculate this? I think you are the same height as me, so your bmr is probably about 1850-1900 cals/day. It is a guesstimate but I bet it is pretty close.
I also found Fitday.com calculating my BMR pretty accurate if you choose : "bedbound" (LOL) for the lifestyle on your profile. Then you can add your exercise to it. If you select "moderately active" lifestyle most of these formulas already calculating a good 300-400 cals exercise per day into your number which could be misleading.
Or you can google BMr and it will give you a zillion results for formulas and I tried this they pretty much giving me the same number maybe 50 cals difference either way.
Of course this number is just a starting point but for me it is pretty accurate, if I eat 400 cals less and top it off with 600 cals exercise/ day I can loose 2 lbs/weeks average, so it is a pretty accurate starting point.
Have a great day!!! I am running to the gym
Hajni

I calculated it using a formula I got in an email from Jillian Michaels (biggest loser), I just looked, I know what I did wrong - I added all the numbers and the last one you are supposed to subtract. der!!!!! Just recalculated (according to the formula below) and my BMR is 1517.6. That's better I guess, but if I subtract too much from that, I'd be eating nothing!

MALE: 66 + (6.3 × body weight in pounds) + (12.9 × height in inches) ? (6.8 × age in years)

FEMALE: 655 + (4.3 × weight in pounds) + (4.7 × height in inches) ? (4.7 × age in years)

------------------

I just got finished with the core ball workout. Not sure how I like it. It's a little bit clumsy for me and I'm not sure if it's just me or Denise Austin. So I'm going to let Bell try it out to see what she thinks.

I did the whole program which is 5 min. warm-up, 15 min. core & upper, 15 min. core & legs, 15 min. core & buns, and a core complete challenge for 18 min. Some of the stuff did repeat.

I also think it might be time for a new exercise ball. Either I didn't have it filled out enough or it's just worn out (since I've had it for a while and it's gotten a lot of use between me and the boys.)

I've been on track today with food which is easy since I don't have any junk here at all.

B: Protein pancakes w/ smart balance and sf orange marmalade (btw hajni these were the best protein pancakes I've eaten!)
L: crock pot beef (stew meat, mushrooms, onions, stewed tomatoes, and onion soup mix) w/ brown rice
D:
S:

I think for dinner I will just have a nice salad. And don't know if I will even need a snack.

I use the same formula SweatPea for "bedbound" lifestyle you still have to multiply it by 1.2 so your number would be 1820. Does that sound better?
My BMR without the multiplier is 1432, now that is how much I usually eat a day, there is no way I can go any lower than that.
I would start from 1820 with reduction of 300 cals/day and see if it works.

PS: I am glad you liked the pancakes, those are my favorite!!
