Surviving Thanksgiving.

Is anyone else worried about it like I am?

It hadn't really crossed my mind until yesterday when my boyfriend's mother said to me, "You are coming to eat Thanksgiving dinner at our house, right? We're cooking a lot of food, and I expect you guys to eat it all."

Oh, I could go on and on about how that statement, plus many others that I've heard lately drive me crazy, but that's not what I'm here for.

I'm here to see if anyone has any tips for getting through Thanksgiving dinner.

What should I stay away from, and what can I have more of?

I'll be fine with very little. I wasn't expecting a huge feast. Not for myself, anyway.

So, any tips? :)

And, happy almost Thanksgiving, guys!

hey just stopping by. First off great job on the weight loss. You must feelin amazing and be so proud of yourself.

In order to do what you have done, you know what you can eat and cant eat. So with that being said, you can simply decline what you dont want. Eat what you would like in moderation. You bf's mother should respect your answer. Also, she should respect what you have accomplished.

Another thing, you cant undo in one day what you have accomplished over the past x amount of months. If you were to eat over you calories for one day it is ok. This is a lifestyle and you have to live. Just dont make a habit of it. (which we know you wont).

Hope this helps.

Matt

Thank you very much, Matt. :)

I pretty much can tell by looking at something if it's going to be good for me or not, but sometimes I can't.

This is my first Thanksgiving where I'm eating healthy, so I guess I'm just a little nervous.

My boyfriend's mother is a great person, and I love to be around her... except when it's time to eat.

As much as I love her, I can't stand that she tries to make me eat badly at every meal we spend together.

If I don't eat badly (which I usually don't), she is offended.

Before I lost any weight, we both tried crazy diets. None seemed to work, so I decided to change my life completely. I've been losing weight ever since.

She has not, so sometimes I think she's got something against me because of that.

I know it's not a good thing to think, but she really does become hostile around dinner time.

Anyway, hopefully I can get through it. :)

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. :D

This is a time where im glad my family eats all organic and healthy.
Although i do have problems keeping my hands off the tofurky...
I usually use a smaller plate then everyone else, but in my hoouse everythings homemade, organic, even the pies are made homemade. my brother usually makes bread, cooking is so important in my family we once had a house with 2 HUGE kitchens..

It sounds to me that she is VERY jealous.
I had that problem with my sister, she was always the small one in the family till both me and my other sister lost weight, she was too jealous and would try to tak eme out to lunch and such, if i tried to get something with no cheese no sourcream no dressing she'd just look depressed. but now shes pregnant and shes eating EVERYTHING anyway haha

Wow, that's so cool that your family eats like that. :)

My family never much cared for being healthy, so I developed bad eating habits when I was really young.

That's really really cool though. I wish my family was that into cooking. :)

And yeah, that's kind of the vibe I've been getting from her, but I haven't actually said it out loud yet.

I guess I just can't let her get in my head.

Try using a smaller plate, kind of dumb but it usually works for me and makes me feel full quicker with less food.
