Suriata's Diary

Alright so it's been a while since I've updated...

I'm not gonna even TRY to lie. I've been eating... a lot. To be more specific, I've been drinking more than I should and eating more carbs than I should. BUT this is partly due to the fact that I wanted to test out my starch blocker pills. So I've been taking them before any carb-rich meal which has simply been a dream come true. I have been taking these starch blockers for two weeks now and I've lost two lbs. Now this may not seem like a lot but considering all the carbs I've eaten, I think that's pretty damn good.

A typical day:
breakfast: protein shake w/ agar
lunch: sandwich or rice or pasta and/or whole bag of light potato chips
dinner: at least 2 medium bowls of pasta
snacks: at least 6 slices of light bread.
and a little more various carb snacking.

I'm crossing my fingers to make sure this isn't a fluke!! I'm trying not to grossly overdo it (trying to keep under 2000 cals) b/c those pills have gotta stop working at some point.

Back with the agar! Good!

The starch blockers are not intended to REPLACE healthy eating, just to help dull the effects of a bad meal, so... STOP IT!

You might have been able to pull off some time with cheater pills, and still lose/not gain, but they have a tendency to hide nutrition from your body, so you aren't doing yourself any favors, especially if your body gets used to them and is confused when you run out.

Spend some time developing a diet you can eat and be happy with, maybe have some agar with each meal, or better yet half an hour BEFORE each meal, and save the starch blockers for when you know you're going to binge.

Living on any kind of cheater pill is definitely not good for you nutritionally; it tends to be fiber based which sounds good on the surface, but can have several side effects; the LEAST of which involves gastrointestinal blockage or "free flow". Cheater pills are for cheating, not daily use.

No matter what you do (even if it is to completely ignore this free advice), please keep coming back here and posting; it helps to know you aren't the only one wrestling with these kinds of questions or problems.

suriata, have you talked to a doctor about your diet plan? Some of it seems kind of worrying, like using the starch blocker pills like this and starting off going for under 1200 calories a day--if you plan to do diets like this, you really should talk to a doctor about it first.

We definitely want to support your losing weight, but we want you to do it healthily! ;)
