Sure!

That is wonderful - there is just nothing better than jumping on the trampoline! He will figure out how to minimize the crashes soon enough and maybe it will help with co-ordination? The first summer we had ours, I was on it nearly everyday, weather was completely unimportant - flips in the rain, flips in the sunshine, flips when it was getting pretty darn cold! Tom had a hard time convincing me that I better get my butt in gear and start running or hiking with him if I expected to manage 50 miles in October... I don't think it hurt my training a bit!

136.0 today and a remarkably good run up Saddle Mt. My leg ached from yesterday's acupuncture session and overall I am many hours short on sleep this week so I didn't have high hopes, but once I got started running, I settled into a good steady pace, hit an excellent string of tunes, and just went up the hill. Time to the gate was pretty average for this summer at 34:25, but the run felt really good. Enjoyed some views for a couple of minutes while I caught my breath, then we turned and had a very good run back down. I took advantage of the ease of the downhill to really focus on a good cadence and good foot striking with some push off the toe. A smidge over 22 minutes down. And Tom made my day by saying he 'couldn't keep up with me'. Probably just didn't choose to, but whatever, it was nice of him, and he was about 45 seconds behind me.

Super humid so very sweaty and a bit hard to breathe - should only have about 2 more weeks of the summer monsoon, I won't be sorry to see this one go. The moisture has been sorely needed, but at this point I think the forest is pretty happy and I'm ready for our typical glorious autumn weather - sunshine, mild temps, clear cool/cold nights. I'm happy if that weather pattern lasts until late November!

135.6 Aside from some KB swings on Monday, haven't done anything for upper body in eons, so was ready to do some and expected to feel a little weak. How quickly it goes!

Circuit of OHP, T2B, Pushups to start:
OHP 5 x 55, 5 x 60 (ugh!), 5 x 55
T2B 5, 5, 4
Pushups 8,8,8

MB laps 1,1
Pullups (wimpy!!!) 2, 2, 2
Handstand 15 seconds
Knee raises on climbing holds, wide spacing 8
T2B 4, 3
Little bit of slackline, little bit of speedbag

A good holiday weekend - good play, good work, good mentals! T picked up the mail on Friday, Saturday morning I was opening the pile and sure enough, there was that pesky AARP card. Ugh, a little reminder that time marches on and I have a birthday coming in September, but, also totally no big deal as I have plans that do not include slowing down, getting weak, or letting my hair go grey - Loreal is my very good friend! 50? So what!

Saturday 8/31/13 135.6, 17.4% fat by the scale. We planned a long run, but heavy rain started early, so scratch that. Did get in the cat walks, and in between rains, pulled a lot of weeds and did other chores. By late afternoon the skies cleared and I took some wonderful macro shots of our current catapillar invasion on flowers. The summer of 10,000 catapillars I think - they are everywhere! T invited me to hike down the canyon with him, so got in a good 3 mile powerwalk with my guy. Had to dodge a lot of puddles and slid though some yucky mud, but we are still planning our run for morning if it isn't actually raining.

Sunday 9/1 136.2 Ran to the AZ Trail and back, 6.04 miles. This run seemed hard from the start, legs were kind of dead, not really sure why, the hike shouldn't have done it. HRM says max HR 172, avg HR 162, 668 calories, 1:00.47, HRV 134. So compared to the last time we did this run, was 1 minute faster and both avg and max HR were 5 points higher - guess I was working harder, it wasn't all in my head. We did dodge a lot of puddles, and the half mile before the turnaround was brutal - nasty mud and goop, so jumped up and ran in the grass hummocks - tough terrain.

Back at home, we worked more on the road - removed many smaller embedded rocks and then spent ages on one monster boulder - was flat out exhausted by the time we called it a day. Arms dead from hefting the digging bars, core from working to leverage the stupid boulder, and legs from everything. Crashed out by about 7:00 pm!

Monday 9/2 134.6 - Labor Day Holiday - was not dehydrated so that weight is too low. Walked the cats, then ate some fruit and cereal to get a little energy prior to setting up the slackline to play. Got in several good slackline passes, and made some noticable progress on a seated mount. 100 KB swing routine with the 15 lb'er, monkey bar laps, speedbag, hula hoop, handstands, and cartwheels were all fun. Also did a few pullups, toes 2 bar, dips, and squats - but not with any real energy or enjoyment.

Tuesday 9/3 135.6 - heavy rain last evening left everything super wet and muddy, so in an effort to get in a little practice on pavement and run some faster miles (10k race on Saturday 9/7), drove toward town and used the first marked mile of the Snowbowl Road. It gains/loses about 80-100 feet in that mile, just a long steady uphill or downhill. Perfect for what we wanted.

First mile up - warm up: 10.34.23
First fast mile down: 7.22.88
2nd mile up: 9.56.96 (T said I went too fast, but it felt good!)
2nd fast mile down: 7.11.31!

Was fading a bit at the end, but both fast miles felt really good and were a great confidence booster. Have not had any fast miles all summer, even when I was trying. Really happy about this.

Wednesday 135.4 legs were a bit achy from running on pavement. Spent some quality time on the trampoline - excellent boost to my happy factor! Was fooling around afterwards as T and I were talking about knowing where one's body is/falling, and so I jumped and did a 360. Really surprised him that I could - not sure what that says, and we joked about how low I was to the floor... I just spin really fast.

Loads of errands today, then tomorrow we drive for 10 hours to the Land of Dessert for father-in-law's 91st birthday party on Saturday. A pizza party in the backyard is the plan. Since I plan to run my heart out Saturday morning for the 10k, I shall enjoy some pizza, although not much as the crust messes with my gut. Tom's bday is on Tuesday so we will likely stay until then and do some hiking, I hope. After the 10k, the next big thing is the 50 mile hike in the Grand Canyon on 10/5.

Good times at the playground today. Monkey bars (not as good as MY monkey bars!), inverted rows, muscle ups (bar was pretty low), rings so pull-ups, side push outs, and best of all, giant swing and jump off - contest to see who could jump farthest. I did not win and did not care, it was just fun. Box jumps on a fairly moderate wall wasn't too much of a challenge, so we did it on just one foot, weird mind over body stuff there, took me a minute to convince myself I could. What part of my brain is so dang wimpy?? Then cartwheels in the grass. Decided that after never having a decent right handed cartwheel, I should even things out and work on that. My left hand cartwheel has always been really good. Made decent progress today, and Tom successfully did a cartwheel for the first time ever! Walked home and ate ice cream because we are on vacation!

Muscle ups? I am impressed.

Thanks, but don't be, the bar was lower than at home, high chest height rather than over my head. It was fun to get sets of 8, and one of these days ill get them with the high bar.

The 10k went really well this morning. If I had had my birthday (16 days) I would have taken first place in my age group, but since I was running with the 40-49 year olds, I was 6th. Totally happy with my time and exceeded my goal by over a minute with a time of 52:40. Now I'm just waiting for the pizza bday party to start.

Vast quantities of food continues! Went for a short (2 hours) intense hike this afternoon once the rain stopped. Over 2140 feet of climbing in about 2.4 miles, so 4.8 round trip. Humidity was brutal, views were terrific. Planning a 17 mile hike tomorrow.

137.2 Good hike today, 16.4 miles, 3500 feet of climbing to top out on Ben Lomand Peak (9740 foot peak). More tired than I would like to be, this is where my desk job shows up as compared to Tom. Went out to dinner and then had ice cream, so still eating lots and enjoying it. Did wear the HRM for grins, avg HR of 121, max HR 150, 2160 calories.

Another good day of hiking. Different route up Ben Lomand Peak, this one was 15.2 miles and 3900 feet, so shorter and steeper. Legs were a little tired from yesterday, but actually, was happy with how strong my legs felt considering it was the second day of strenuous hiking, and third day of steep climbing. HRM said both avg and max HR were a bit lower than yesterday, as were calories. More ice cream!!!

Shopping today followed by a fierce game of pickle ball in the wind. Will either go home tomorrow, or we found there is a 3rd trail up Ben Lomand, this one shorter and steeper yet. Tough decisions...

Getting back to normal routine, and back to the office... but some catch-up first.
Drove home on 9/12, so we made it our last day of decadance - I do love those chocolate Dunford donuts!

Friday 9/13/13 - 137.2 which is amazing considering all the ice cream eaten in the past week. Felt really good to get back to a yard workout, and I was pleased with the results:

OHP 6x45, 6x50, 5X55, 3x60, 2x65, 1x70 and tried 75lbs, but had done too much to get the bar any higher than my nose.
Body weight squats, then added 15lb KG, 20 each
Front Squats with barbell - has been ages since I tried these: 8x60, 7x65, 5x75, 5x80x2, 5x85
Hanging knee raises 8
Pull-ups 3,3,3,3 Handlebar grip 2 (arms were toast)
T2B 3,3,4,3,2,2,2 (grip was gone)
MB 1.5 laps - again, grip was weak by the time I did this
Slackline!!!
2 songs worth of lunges, 1 song of side lunges

Later, went to town for groceries and while at the gym, did some fast walking on the treadmill - 2.15 miles @ 5% grade and 4.2-4.5 mph

Saturday 135.4 Walked to Deadman Canyon and back - a little point to point orienteering. 7 miles

Sunday 134.8 Walked to the Abineau trailhead and back - 11 miles and about 1300 feet of elevation gain.

Monday 134.8 Yard Workout
Pushups: 8,10,12,8
Pullups: 3,3,3
T2B: 4,4,4,4,3,3
Step ups (17 inch step) holding 20lbs: 3 sets each leg
squats 5x65 (knee said no)
KB swings and various kick sets, as well as Hamstring exercises
Dips - barely eeked out 7 since did these last
Slackline was pretty good today - several good passes

135.0 Shoe Hill Loop with T this morning. Since it was short (3.2 miles) tried for a fast middle 1.1 - wasn't great at 8.10, but one of my better efforts this summer on that section of trail.

You are as hard on yourself as I am, wasn't great, but one of your best efforts!

Good stuff, and with that attitude you will continue to do well.

Yep, guess you are right. Never be satisfied, always strive to do more!

135.2 and a yard workout today.
started with circuit of OHP, pushups, step-ups
- OHP 5x45, 5x65, 2x70, 1x70 - thought I might try for 75, but the step-ups with 50lbs left my arms kinda limp...
- pushups 8,8,8,8
- 17inch step-ups 20 ea leg holding 20 lbs, 15 ea leg holding 50 lbs x 2 - was disappointed that my arms felt as much a limiting factor as legs. Was holding 25 lb plates, excellent grip, so why so hard??? Maybe the combination of OHP, pushup and this weight was a problem, no real rest for the arms...
100 KB swings
MB laps until my hands hurt
few pull-ups, few T2B, 1 set of 8 dips, few passes on the slackline as the workout became a little disorganized

Headed down to Phoenix this evening to work for a couple of days, so low elevation running is on tap for Thursday and Friday along with revolting heat and far too many people!

Morning run did not happen as I was up late getting ready for the software training I was giving today - bad data and bad setup makes for bad training and had to be fixed. Thought about it for this afternoon, but it was 106F which is just stupid hot. Sweating is one thing, heatstroke, quite another! Am declaring this a slug day and will try again tomorrow morning when it will only be 84F at 6:00 AM. Really, how does anyone tolerate these temperatures for more than a day? Grrrrr.

You could use a good database and installations person in your crew.
I remember setting up some reports for demo a while ago, data totally made up due to lack of time to make them properly. Complaint when people got the real thing, data didn't match. Taxed my diplomacy to the limits but I didn't tell them it was ID ten T issue on their part.

I am totally with you on the heat as you know. Dropping here now and making me happier.

Yes to the DB and installs - my guy is out for a few weeks. In this it wouldn't have helped as I was just the hired trainer, brought in for expertise in a fairly arcane subject. When I finally got access to the data, a week after asking, I found a mess. Oh we'll.

Got in a very nice run this morning considering it was on pavement (I am sooooo spoiled!) and BONUS, only 75 degrees F. 3 miles, 26.45

Now eggs, coffee, loooong meeting, then home to my mountain. Birthday is Monday, haven't decided if I will go to work or not. Might depend on the length of the hike we do this weekend. Really need to get in at least 20 miles.
