Morning everyone,
Well, my kids had a sleepover at our house today, and so my exercise room (guest room) was in use. That meant I couldn't retreat to my DVDs and workout videos!
So instead, I put on the TV and decided, hmmmm, let's do some karate kick drills. Nice, basic, easy stuff - 100 kicks on each leg including
Front kicks
Roundhouse kicks
Crescent kicks
Ax kicks
What really surprised me (and now that I know it, I wonder why I have never read about it online) was the amount of sweat the above activity produced - my heart rate was 'way up there!
And this wasn't a workout DVD, nor a VHS tape, nor was I following anything on the TV (except for reading how Fluidity "poofs away the love handles" which made me snort)... I was simply doing basic common sense exercises (for martial arts, that is).
It took me 45 minutes to complete my 800 kicks (100 on each leg). Not only did I work out, but I also practiced my martial arts. Two benefits for the price of one!
Which gets me to my current thought. My super-secret exercise tip is this - when life throws you a curve ball and you can't do your usual workout, be creative! Sometimes simple things done again and again can really work up a sweat for you...and help increase your fitness as well.
Have a great Sunday,
Barbara
