Summertime weight loss

As summer approaches here, and the temps are steadily going up, I'm getting excited because I tend to weight less in the summer months. This is mainly due to the extreme heat, sweating, drinking tons of water, and loss of appetite in the heat. For those that aren't familiar with the deep southern US, our temps can get close to 100 with heat index near 110. In that kind of heat, all you want to do is eat lite and drink gallons of cold water per day not to mention the extra exercise due to the yard work. I usually weigh up to 10lbs less in the summer. It's not here yet but by the end of May, it should start to happen. Anyone else? I know many here are from all parts of the world and some of you are in completely different seasons that the US, so what is your outtake on your body weight and changing temps? Do you tend to weigh more in the cold months and less in the hot months?

i think most people tend to add pouns in the winter, - bulkier clothing hides a multitide of sins, heavier comfort foods to warm up a body, less activity outside because it's so cold out... summer fresh vegetables are more readily available and lighter foods are the norm...

Hello! At Portugal, Spring is going great not too cold and not too hot. At summer it will be a painful hot weather that will drive us crazy... There are days that we and warned not to go out in some hours... We just want to be naked, really... I spent my last summer in a bikini while I was home studying for september exames, taking a 5 seconds cold shower every hour... And yes, we cant eat much... fruit, juices, salads... but we can't do a lot of exercise because of the heat... just very early in the morning and late at afternoon and night, it's great to go do some exercise at sunset near the beach :)

I have lots of free time during the summer, so that also helps. I'll start doing strength exercise as soon as school is over.

I find it easier to lose weight in the summer because of all the salads and lovely fruit in season, but it doesn't happen naturally for me. Everywhere I go, I want an ice cream (I love ice cream more than any other fattening food), and there's not much benefit to going for a walk if you eat an ice cream every time.

Even when I was in Florida in July some years back (and it was a particularly hot July apparently), I didn't lose my appetite - I just added more ice cream! I remember walking out of the airport on that trip, and feeling the heat pressing down on me for the first time. I turned my face up to the sun and stretched my arms out - it was wonderful. I'd never been anywhere that's so hot I'd stand out in the rain to get cool, knowing I'd be dry in no time. I loved it! But I didn't lose my appetite.

Summer time is fat time for me....

I live in South China where the summer is 5-6 months of 40-45C (100-110F) with 98% humidity. The humidity is the killer. At that time of year one tends to avoid any outdoor activities, as even a 2 block slow walk will produce gallons of sweat. Winter time is definitely my weightloss time as I can walk or run everyday comfortably and even at the coldest temp it is still teeshirt weather for me when I exercise. That is why now I am working my butt off to get to my goal by my birthday (Aug 1) so that I can focus more on maintenance than straight up weight loss. I wont get there before it gets scremiang hot, but I am certainly going to try. I am hoping this summer will be the best summer ever, where I dont have an extra 70 pounds heating me up and causing me to sweat like a madman..... Plus I want to look really good wearing as little clothing as possible... ;)

I just can't wait until it gets above 0 degrees so I can start walking outside. That's when I lose weight the fastest, because I could walk all day.

Sirant, we have the killer humidity too. Just today, I was at the New Orleans zoo with my son walking around all day, temps in the upper 70's but the humidity made it feel so hot, ughhh. I'll never forget what it was like after Katrina though, blistering heat with no relief in sight, no power for weeks, having to sleep in total sweat and no baths (good way to lose weight but I'll never do it again). When I'm in extremely hot weather, all I want is drink, all the drink I can hold, preferrably water, but no food.

Same here...

I drink way more, but like you, the appetite goes in the toilet. I find myself forcing myself to eat during the day so I don't erupt into mad boughts of cravings and binge eating at night when it is cooler. Now I have a good job in a nice airconditioned office all day and I have the nicest and biggest mall in town next door to go walking in, so I hope this is the summer I get to my goal, regardless of how hot it gets, and without lost appetite during the heat.

Not to mention I wont mind soaking my see-through white shirt this year if I reach my goal..... May just tempt me to go out and sweat more... ;)
