Sugar and Weight

Sugar and weight has an inseparable relationship as sugar has a massive impact on weight. In fact, according to research, among its competitors in weight contribution and obesity, sugar is preeminent.
People who take in lots of sugar have been known to get fat. One can lose weight once he/she cuts down on sugar and undoubtedly, can put on extra weight if he/she increases his/her intake. Having this said in a very simple statement, we then can conclude that the less sugar you consume, the more likely you are to lose weight.
Let us spell out the their in a manner that all of us can comprehend.
Sugar is in almost all of every food that we eat- from the tasty bread for breakfast to the milk we drink before bed. Foods and drinks that we regularly consume contain a simple sugar called fructose. Fructose, when consumed too much, increases one’s hunger and desire for food more than glucose, the main type of sugar found in starchy foods such as bread, cereals, rice, and etc

this was one of the first alarm bells that started ringing in my head. i can recall the day i picked up a box of corn bread mix... corn bread... sounds like good food, right? my feelings changed when i discovered after deciphering the ingredients, while not actually saying the word "sugar", the mix contained >50% sugars.
 
Sugar is absolutely our bad friend. I have been gaining weight even when I ate healthy food ( as I thought ). Fruits are bad liars. Everybody tells us to eat them min 5 a day, but nobody says that this is the direct way of consuming sugar.

Whut? Who´s telling you to eat 5 pieces of fruit a day? Your 5 a day should be fruit AND VEG. And most government agencies will tell you to have the majority of those servings be veggies. But apart from that misrepresentation the fiber in fruit means the sugar goes into the bloodstream less quickly than refined sugar does so you feel full longer, and the high water content means you´re filling up more quickly than you would on chocolate.

Before I comment on the fruit sugar thing I have to say I am not an expert on this subject, but I own a small peach orchard that is at peak production right now. In fact I am eating a peach as I post, and for the next few weeks I plan to eat an average of 5 or so a day, just kind of have to. So I may have a small conflict of interest here.

I see nothing wrong with fruit or the sugar in it, so long as one counts the calories and/or carbs involved and fits them into a health diet. In fact I find fruit can be relatively filling for the calories and has helped me lose weight. Fruit works better for me as a sugar source than anything else. I do avoid refined sugar and products that contain much of it, mostly because of the empty calories, no protein, no nutrients other than the sugar, and in many cases not very filling. I don't see sugar as inherently evil just something to be managed in any diet.

sadly the phrase "fruit and vegetables" is so well ingrained, it's hard for many to see the difference. when someone mentions this in conversation i'll often offer my version... "fruit & vegetables & vegetables & vegetables".

the more dangerous version of fruit is juice. fiber buffers the effect of fructose.

Couldn't agree more with you! The juice we see in markets is frightening me. I should tell you that it might be only my metabolism that has difficulties with digesting fructose. I have been working on my body so long and with zero results until I found a great program (an App actually) which I lead the second week and it's amazingly structured. It works! I found out about it here Spam Link Removed. What strikes me the most is that the program uses a points system to track your food intake as every food on the weight watchers list has an assigned number of points, depending on its calorie count and its nutritional content-saturated fat, sugar, and protein.

Carbs do not cause weight gain, they are not your enemy, carbs are your primary source of energy your brain feeds and works on carbs.

carbs are not an essential nutrient

The body can function without a single gram of carbohydrate in the diet. It is a myth that the brain needs 130 grams of carbohydrate per day.
When we don’t eat carbs, part of the brain can use ketones for energy. These are made out of fats (20). Additionally, the body can produce the little glucose the brain needs via a process called gluconeogenesis.

Studies have shown the elimination of dietary carbohydrate caused no obvious problems (The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)

This is not to say some carbs cannot be beneficial, making it easier to consume actual essential nutrients


When it comes to fat gain it’s the calories in versus the calories out.

This is an over simplification of the problem
